"Great looking - BASIC Monochromatic Printer" on by wulrich
Pros: The first thing that sticks out: OF COURSE ITS THE LOOK. The size and overall design allow it to be in a class all its own. In addition, its modern style and sleek lighting system make this a trend setter for future monochromatic printers.
Cons: If you are looking for a BASIC MONO PRINTER, then this is the one. If you are looking for something capable of handling large jobs, then move on and spend the extra money for an office laser printer.
Summary: I purchased this printer for a friend and helped install it in her home. Not only was it a perfect match for the overall theme of the room, its quietness stood out the most to me. With the TV on, I was NOT able to hear the printer working its magic (save for when the paper was coming out and rubbing up against other paper!)
I've owned two other printers in my lifetime, and this one stands out for its sleekness. It DOES NOT stand out for its ability to print, simply because it is a standard monochromatic printer...it ranges from about 15 to 20 ppm (which is plenty enough in my opinion for personal use).
The fact remains: if you are looking for a space-saver, this is the way to go. I'm sure more companies will follow suit with the "smaller" size...but until then, spend the money and get this one for its compact and amazingly quiet design.
Another plus: I'm a technology freak who enjoys flashy products, so suffice to say, the high-gloss finish and LED lighting on the lid make this #1 in my book.
Hope this helps, all.
(NOTE: Just like other mono-laser printers, the catridges are going to set you back $50 to 70. Relatively normal, but from what I'm hearing..they are difficult to spot...some quick internet sleuthing should be able to point you in the right direction.) -
"Gotta get me one" on by NewEnglander
Pros: Small footprint, sleek
Cons: Dunno if it can handle envelope printing yet
Summary: Price is good. How about consumables? Too new to find out the cost at my local Staples or online at OfficeMax / Office Depot.
Supposedly a problem with a Mac, but apparently there is already a work-around for it.
I don't print a lot, but when I do, I want it to look real good. I like Samsung overall.
