"Not Happy with Xerox" on by Fooled Once

Pros: Fast - Some prints look great

    Cons: Some prints look terrible

Summary: After researching a number of laser color printers we chose this one. What a mistake. It won't print anything from Adobe Acrobat that looks decent even after 45 minutes on the phone with tech support. The settings were complex and still didn't give a print that looked anything like their demo, or our $79 inkjet print of the same page. WORD document print quality was good.

Eventually they claimed we were trying to print graphics and this wasn't a graphics printer. I reminded them their demo page was, in fact, a graphic - they said it was optimized for best quality. Even text on a colored background was bad. They maintained we needed a more expensive printer. No more Xerox for us.

"The best printer I have ever had" on by s.troyer

Pros: I love the fast color speed and easy to use bypass tray

Cons: The paper handling is a little bit small could use a bigger tray for the money I spent

Summary: I really like my new Xerox Phaser 6180 it is a great printer with excellent color speed for the cost. I personally read the CNET reviews on the printer and chose Xerox over the Lexmark because of the realibility that Xerox has proved in the past on there Solid Ink and Tektronic printers along with there excellent onsite service!

"Works great for our small business" on by shallingz28

Pros: Good looking color print-outs; pretty fast; never a single problem over the past 13 months.

Cons: A little pricey; cartridges are expensive.

Summary: I like this printer for the ease in set-up and overall reliability. Yes, the color print-outs could look better, but they look very good and present well. I would buy it again if I needed another one.

"Do not buy this printer, mine died in 15 months." on by craigthac

    Pros: nice while it lasted.

Cons: The printer quit working and displayed an error message. Called Xerox they said sorry main board is probably shot, $325 for new one plus installation. Printer isn't worth it.

Summary: Do not trust this printer, mine died after 15 months of light use at home.

"Extremely good value and quality - if you pay abt $400" on by xianlewis

Pros: Great features for the $400 range: Fast printing (20 ppm color, 26 b/w), lots of great features (double-sided, manual tray, glossy print settings), true color printing; 1 yr warranty

Cons: True color printing takes a long time to begin; difficult to default settings to glossy print (has to be manually done every time)

Summary: I paid $399 for this printer, the same as the HP Laser Jet CP1518ni and the Lexmark C500n at Office Depot. The Xerox Phaser 6180DN prints 20 pages color and 26 b/w per minute, does double-sided, and comes with a one year unlimited warranty. Print quality is great - IF you know what you're doing and know which settings to use for various types of paper, color, etc. This is not the MacIntosh of printers, but if you're printing high-res graphics you should be able to use something more sophisticated anyway.

To compare, the HP prints 8 pages color and 12 b/w. The Lexmark prints 8 ppm color, though it gets 31 in b/w. Neither the HP nor the Lexmark do double-sided printing. The HP and the Lexmark come with limited warranties.

For me, who needs to print lots of color flyers, this was an excellent buy. I like the fact it's a Xerox, too.
