"Not much of a work horse." on by BazLondon
Pros: Prints moderately reliably when plugged into a single PC, for a single user.
Cons: Many problems that Xerox deny. The panel displays garbled characters or goes blank within months. Xerox support simply made up excuses. If more users try to use the printer through the network jobs clash regularly. The ppm quoted is far from reality.
Summary: Look elsewhere. This printer is a burden. Should have learnt my lesson from the last Xerox I purchased.

"Not as fast as they say" on by parfive9346
Pros: Duplexes OK
Cons: Stops during print jobs to clean & calibate
Summary: This product boasts speeds up to 24ppm in color. While that may be true for print jobs less than 35 pages, it's not true for large print jobs. About every 35-40 pages the printer stops the job and goes into a cleaning and calibration mode. This takes about 30 seconds to complete. Then it starts printing again. What good is printing out a large job (800-900 pages) at fast speeds when it stops every 35-40 pages to clean & calibrate. This greatly reduces the time factor for large jobs. I called Xerox and they said this was normal. If I would have known this beforehand, I would have never purchased the printer.

"Wonderful color laser" on by tdgvrr
Pros: Easy to install and use, good print quality, very fast, built-in management tools
Cons: Size, power consumption
Summary: I wouldn't normally think of Xerox for a home office printer, but now I can't say enough good things it. It was up and running about 5 minutes after coming out of the box, and it's producing beautiful color laser prints at very close to its rated 42 pages per minute speeed. It's built very solidly and looks like it will withstand the rigors of day to day use for a long time. The print drivers - as well as the built-in, web-based management tools - are very good and I've been using the printer without problem from Windows XP/Vista, Mac and Linux.
Only two complaints. First, power consumption (750W) is high enough to require the printer being on its own circuit (first time I plugged it in, it was on the same circuit as my PC and some other equipment...was enough to dim the lights and trip my UPS!). Also, the size (17"W x 23"D and 72 lbs.) makes it a bit rough to fit it on most printer stands.
Overall, highly recommended!
