"Excellent monitor for price, terrible support"3.0 starson by Beercan34
Pros: Excellent monitor for price. Web cam may be OK too, but don't know yet, since haven't been able to get it working with Win 7 the first 4 weeks.
Cons: The support for the product is worst I have ever seen. Not even a geek could make the web cam work without support. There are no down-loadable drivers or manuals available AT ALL. Zero. Everything is by US mail.
Summary: I agree the quality of the monitor is high, and the price is low. I bought mine at Staples for $183 incl tax. But the support is a nightmare. There is one good guy at phone support, but it is very hard to reach him. Not everyone is a geek. There is almost nothing in the box about how to make it work. The driver in the box does not work with Win 7. There is no alternate to download. You have to phone (painful) then they mail you a CD in the US mail (very slow). 1st time the sent wrong CD. Had to repeat process. There is no hardware manual in box, no manual on CD. Not even most geeks would be able to make the web cam work. 3rd time after total 3 weeks I got correct driver. Web cam won?t work without separate USB cable attached. USB cable is like a printer cable, not the usual same on both ends. Getting the web cam to work and all set up correctly without manual, using trial-and-error is a colossal pain. There are no manuals at all. The company boasts a visual manual on-line. This is terrible. The screen-shot instructions (screen captures) they display are so small that the text is not readable at all even with their large, 22 inch, hi res monitor. I have never had more aggravation getting a simple monitor set up in all my 30 years starting with DOS 1. Even though the hardware & price are excellent, it cost me twice what I paid in time and aggravation to make it work because of the worst overall support I have ever seen. Be warned. If you are NOT a geek, don?t buy it, unless you don?t need the web cam.
