"Great visual monitor, poor AOC support for webcam"4.0 starson by jimbmw
Pros: Bright display and runs cool with LED backlighting, reasonable price from Staples with coupon and gift card point (total cost was only about $150!)
Cons: Webcam drivers supplied on CD are non-functional with Window XP.
Summary: When I contacted customer support (email, not live) they mailed me a new CD, they sent me a duplicate of what I had, and it doesn't load a driver that works with the webcam either. The camera does almost function~~it shows a picture of yourself, if seated looking at it. But when you try to "take" a picture or use it with ANY application, it it NOT recognized. The AOC support offered NO viable help, just sent another worthless CD. I have another problem, MANY videos show up VERY DARK when on certain scenes (extreme contrast??), making the view of those presentations un-readable. Not sure if it's the dynamic setting or what~~otherwise the picture is outstanding. The HDMI hookup works fine. Sound is like headphones pointing down below the Monitor, just use it for "monitoring" sound, I'll power up my external speakers if there's a video/sound I want to hear clearly. How did you finally get the proper driver for the webcam?Still LOVE this monitor. Found out the extreme darkness on some scenes is caused by leaving the DCR selection on. TURN IT OFF. Some sort of Dynamic Contrast control, way too dark on some scenes. Webcam finally working okay, but had to get 3rd party s/w~~Debut Video Software works fine. Ranks up there with Samsung in performance. This unit has many bells/whistles.
