"Great display, but..."4.0 starson by m4ch4x0r
Pros: Bright, crisp graphics, $100 less expensive than a comparable (but somehow lacking) 27" Dell Ultrasharp, 2560x1440 resolution (something that the majority of 27 and 28 inch screens costing about half as much lack), IPS panel, and fun ports on the back (wh
Cons: Thunderbolt-enabled Mac is required to use this screen (for now...), no anti-glare option, could line up better with the 27" iMac.
Summary: I bought one of these to go with my 27" iMac (core i5-2500, Radeon 6970 graphics) so I'd have more working room in Photoshop. It's been working out great for me in several respects, most notably the fact that I've been able to double my workspace. As far as overall performance goes, it works well enough - even compared to an old Dell P991 I kept around for gaming, there is no noticeable ghosting while playing a title with dark visuals (Portal 2, for instance).
I did look at this display next to the Dell Ultrasharp 27" at my local Microcenter before purchasing (when you know the salespeople, they're usually willing to do stuff for you like this). The color quality was dead even between the two displays in my eyes. While I wouldn't have minded an HDMI connection that the Dell offered, the overall aesthetic and the price being $100 less is what compelled the purchase of the Apple display.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some more Portal to beat.
