Pros Asthetics, base, colors, screen, zero pixel warrantee
Cons Touch screen buttons! maybe because i got a lemon
Summary I bought this monitor from ewiz and i received it the same week. The packaging was well done and my initial reaction was that it was an amazingly sleek lcd! I was so anxious to get this monitor ever since I saw pictures of it. I plugged in all the inputs and held my breath as I turned on my new long awaited toy. I plugged in the monitor and it turned on immediately. ASUS flashed across the screen and I thought I was ready to do business. I pressed the input button to switch to the component from my cable box and nothing. Does this button work? Well... never got it working! It worked fairly well at times. The first day I had it, it was unresponsive and I couldn't even get into the menu. Either none of the buttons worked or it was really delayed. The monitor went berzerk and flashed through all the features as if it was possessed. The brightness dimmed all the way down, the volume went down to zero, and it flashed through all the picture modes several times. I was furious! Asus, a brand I have always held at such high esteem have failed me. I'm not sure if this is a lemon or if it is suppose to do this. I unplugged the monitor and left for the weekend hoping that when I would come back it would work properly. I was wrong... it did work at times, but it went back to how it started. I emailed Asus and have yet to get a response. They say 48hrs so i guess i have another 24hrs to wait to read what their answer is. I think I figured out this monitor. However, only because it was briefly working. The literature that is included with this monitor is worthless. There is nothing about how to use this monitor. I guess they figured those who would purchase this monitor would be computer savy enough to figure it out themselves. O yes, and last but not least, the webcam does not work. Installed the software and it failed to boot. The program boots, but the camera shows complete darkness. When installing the pivot pro software, the monitor was overtaken by a blue cloud that fuzzed white. Did this thing crash? I pressed the off button and not only did it fail to turn off, it flashed a message that said not to go further or the warrantee will be voided. So whatwas suppose to be a high quality display turned out to be a technical disaster. I give it a 4 for asthetics and because I am still awaiting on what ASUS will do or tell me. The picture quality is fairly good as well. The blacks are real black in the right picture mode. If this monitor worked to my expectations, it would have easily been a 9.Updated
HORRIBLE! I am through with this monitor and this brand! I should have bought the NEC 20WMGX2, from a brand that knows monitors! I can't even count the number of hairs I've pulled! I called them 5 times the last 3 days and there is nobody that can help me! The agent at the LCD department is not even there I've gotten forwarded to an answering machine each time. It wouldn't be bad if they would return their calls, but they do not! Apparently they only have 1 guy that answers questions for LCD's... that's it... i'm through with ASUS. I was on the phone for probably an hour and half on hold getting transferred around talking to people that know nothing! I'm debating on ebaying this monitor or sending it back to ewiz... I'm not sure if it's broke or if the OSD/monitor SUCKS that bad.
Pros Inputs, design
Cons Dead pixels, touch buttons, USB problems, sound quality
Looks great, connnects to my PC, DVD, & VCR.
I have noticed two dead (dark) subpixels and these are not covered by the ZDB (bright) warranty. Very annoying once you notice them!
The touch sensistive buttons look cool, byt are very difficult to use - they do not always respond to touch.
When copying photos using the USB connectors, I quite often loose the connection to the memory card, when using the monitor's USB hub.
The sound quality is so-so.
