"Very pretty until you see a bright yellow flower"

2 stars  | on by Alertguy

Pros

Runs very cool, great black level

Cons

Blue, Green and to some extent Red suffer from saturation losing definition and balance with bright images.

Summary

I had no problem setting the monitor up or with the menu. It really isn't that bad - one button opens the menu, press left/right to select category, press menu again to enter category, press left/right (now up/down) to select item and adjust.

My issue is that when viewing a light image, such as a sunflower, the monitor colors seem to saturate or bloom and the image looses definition.even the MS Blue screen is just too bright. No amount of brightness or contrast adjustment allow definition between the brighter steps in Blue and Green scales. I have to admit it is bright and vivid but the color accuracy for brighter objects is just not there. This is an absolute no-no for photographic work and pretty anoying for movie viewing.

"Fantastic LED Monitor"

4 stars  | on by mattshomeworldd

Pros

Colors look great. Has connections for VGA, DVI, and HDMI.

Cons

OSD menu is very confusing and takes some learning curve. Built in speakers are weak.

I bought a Acer S2 series LED 23in monitor but after 3 days I noticed a annoying white glow on the left panel, took it back and exchanged it for the same one only to find that one had 3 dead pixels. After going to a different electronic store and seeing this one compared to others and the price it was a done deal. I am very happy with the monitor... it looks and performs better then Acer brands.

"Great value LED Monitor"

4 stars  | on by tjm_mgd

Pros

Overall picture quality is great. Handles fast motion surprisingly well. Very bright, colors are quite vivid in the "standard" mode. Includes DVI, VGA and Audio cable. Other Preset modes work really nicely for their intended purpose.

Cons

On Screen Display is not at all intuitive. Took a little while to figure it out since the instructions are quite lacking. As with most monitors, the cables included are far too short for any realistic application.

I researched quite a few 24 inch monitors before deciding on the Asus. After having the power inverter fail on my last CCFL back-lit LCD, I really wanted to go LED this time. I read a few reviews on the Asus that talked about ghosting issues and I even watched a video on YouTube that showed an example of it. Well I don't know if Asus fixed the issue in subsequent revs of the monitor or if I just got lucky, but I've not noticed any of the ghosting problems describe (and believe me I've tried to replicate it).

Overall the monitor is quite nice, especially for a sub $200 display. It's got a nice simple, understated physical appearance which I prefer. The lack of swivel and height adjust-ability would be a pain for someone that planned to set this monitor on a desk, but most displays in this price range seem to lack those features. I have mine mounted to the wall on a Vesa mount so I have all that ability to adjust built into that mount.

I'm very happy with the picture quality. Netflix movies look terrific, so do DVD movies. I fired up a few with a lot of dark scenes and the contrast is still very good. Fast motion is handled really well, although at 60Hz, some artifacts are still visually detectable.

All in all this is a great monitor for most applications. Hard core gamers will probably want to go up the price range yet, but for most users this would be a great display.
