"awesome Asus monitor"
on by jbonds007Pros wow, what a monitor this Asus is, a totally beauty. can't beat the picture/product quality for the as tested priced of $298. no dead pixels, thin although not LED thin. at this price, nothing really comes closed, best 27" LED to price ratio by far.
Cons would be brighter if it's LED backlite, however, not a at all a con for the ultra low price/product quality.
Summary not sure why the low ratings from by the CNET reviewer. think he probably may have got cocky and didn't bother reading the manual to get the correct adjustments. maybe CNET needs to hire someone with greater attention to details to do his job.

"Fantastic monitor."
on by Dare978devilPros Incredibly bright
Auto-installs with Win7 directly to default res of 1920*1080
Super-crisp image
Very fast response time, ideal for games
Not a single bad pixel
Headphone jack
HDMI port
Can sit far back and read the screen without a problem.Cons Headphone jack is a bit awkward to get to, it's on the back facing up.
Summary Terrific monitor. Unbelievably priced at 300 dollars considering its size. 2ms response times makes it ideal for games. I no longer have to lean in to read small print, the default 1920*1080 size on a 27-inch monitor is incredibly easy on the eyes. Snap to set up (hey, it's a monitor, how hard could it be?), auto-switches with Win7 to the correct default res.
I have separate speakers hooked up to a sub on my computer, so I won't be using the included monitor speakers.
Best monitor I have ever owned. I think the CNET editors must have been asleep at the wheel when they only gave this panel 6.5 out of 10. -
"A Real Review"
on by WestnylenetPros The Pricepoint is that of a 25" monitor, that being said this is a really good deal, bright, clear, like the other guy said just turn off gpu overscan in catalyst control centre, obviously the editor doesnt read the manual...
Cons -Alittle bit of backlight bleed
-Not as crisp or bright as its LED counterpartSummary The monitor is complete steal of a deal at 300$... any other monitor in its class and ive seen them side by side, is 700$+... I really think these editors get paid off by the brands themselves, Asus has been godly since day1... Godly tech support aswell, never had a problem

"CNET EDITORS advice is wrong."
on by timo113Pros CNET EDITORS advice is wrong.. All you need to do is turn your GPUS overscan on the appropriate amount with Catalyst Control Center
Nice size
Contrast ratio astonishing 100,000:1 - At least double anything for its price
Lots of portsCons That this advice is incorrect and this awesome screen has been criticized
Summary Buyers guide is wrong about the small 'letterbox' bands on HDTV content. All you need to do is turn your GPUS overscan on the appropriate amount with Catalyst Control Center
