"Best monitor I've ever owned" on by deonb
Pros: Perfect size for 1920x1080 resolution
Cons: Doesn't come in a 3-pack ...
Summary: This is the first monitor that I don't have to switch to 120 DPI to be able to run at full resolution.
The combination of 27" and 1920x1080 works extremely well. I was kind'a in shock for the first 2 or 3 hours and thought it might be too big (I've been running on 24" monitors for 2 years before).
However your eyes get quickly used to the extra real estate and now going back to 24" feels like I'm using a Pocket PC.
I won't go back to anything else, and I even prefer this over the larger 30" monitors (with finer resolution). -
"Great monitor, little pricy" on by sentinel41
Pros: lots of inputs, looks awesome, huge, pip and pbp options
Cons: pixel density low, expensive
Summary: This is a perfect monitor for people who want a little bit more then just a 24" w/o having to exclusively use dual dvi inputs. If you were like me and wanted to get something a little more then just a 24" LCD, but wanted more flexibility with inputs then the 30" LCD's offered, this is it. This monitor has the same resolution as the 24" ones, so you don't have any more desktop real estate then you would with the 24's. But this LCD isn't about real estate, its about size. Its a huge upgrade in screen size over the 24".
So if the resolutions the same then why not just get the 30" and get the higher rez, right? The 30" displays on the market all require dual DVI to achieve the 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. The down side to that is to prevent the 30" LCDs from stepping on their TV lines toes, no other inputs are offered. Not that many other inputs could meet the 2,560 x 1,600 native anyways.
I wanted something that I could hook up, not only my computer to, but my cable TV, x-box 360, and DVD player. This has everything I need, and it has pip and pbp to boot. The picture is clear, I don't notice much ghosting and I like to game on it when I have free time. My 1080i videos look incredible on this display.
When I got it the price was 300$ less then the 30", but now the 30" is dropping in price. I would wait until this screen dropped to 1000$ or below, which will happen to help even out their price range. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen in the next month or so. -
"GREAT for Gamers!" on by Demne
Pros: bright and vibrant colors, great pixelation, awesome for movies, no ghosting.
Cons: Little pricey, but if you stack E&A coupons you can save a lot of money on this. I got for 900 from the Dell website.
Summary: Im a huge gamer and found this monitor to be the best monitor after looking around at Frys and Best Buy. I viewed the monitor at Dells demo and when I finally got the monitor running games like World of Warcraft, Stalker, Command and Conquer 3, the graphics looked sharp, defined, and no ghosting like other displays. I used to game on a CRT 21 Sony g520 and this upgrade was a hard choice but I made a great decision. If you want an amazing gaming display, this one is better than the 24 in ultrasharp Dell, and way faster for gaming than the 30in which I also played around with.

"Excellent. Excellent!" on by jkaufman101
Pros: Big, but not gigantic like the 30" Dell. Excellent brightness and contrast. Nice design. I like how you can lower the bottom edge of the viewable screen to 2.5" of your desk.
Cons: Pricey ($1190)
Summary: After I ordered the 2707WFP, I saw/read some additional reviews about the monitor that were negative. One in particular was the one on the Dell website, complaining that its 1920x1200 resolution was unacceptably low. Edges were not sharp and Dell should have adopted a higher resolution.
I was pretty pissed when I read this because I do a LOT of online reading -- text needs to be really really sharp.
But when I plugged the 2707 in and looked at the text, it was sharper and more crisp than any monitor I had ever seen. This is SUCH an improvement over my previous monitor, an EXCELLENT Samsung 215TW, in nearly every respect.
Before buying the 2707, I was considering the 30" Dell. I decided against the 30" because it was just too damn big -- like an IMAX screen. Turn out this was a good decision. The 2707 is a perfect compromise between an overbearing screen and something with not enough real estate.
It's a little pricey, but it's worth every penny.
