  • "Washed out colors and terrible viewing angle. Don't buy"
    on by rippleflick

    Pros Cheap
    Large
    Light

    Cons Washed out colors
    Poor viewing angle
    No Vesa mount

Summary I picked up two of these monitors with a recent PC purchase from Dell. I chose the ST2420L because it was cheap. Since all my previous Dell monitor purchases worked out well, I didn't bother to read any reviews. Bad decision. The colors are washed out and the viewing angle is extremely limited. If you aren't 6 inches right in front of the monitor the colors get terrible. I started to get a headache with this monitor. I'm currently putting them back in the box and sending back to Dell. I likely will shop elsewhere for a monitor. I can't believe they are selling such horrible monitors. No wonder the price was so low. Just a heads up to those of you considering this monitor.

Pros Brightness, aspect ratio, very bright.

Cons Dont have any con's I suppose. Maybe a vesa mount would be nice.

  • "Amazing monitor for the $200 price."
    on by dslme

Pros Crisp, well-defined lines and text
Well-lit display with very good blacks and bright whites
VGA, DVI, HDMI and 3.5mm audio.
An excellent feature set for the price.

I've seen plenty of 24" monitors for much more, but when looking at the price I paid ($2

Cons I find it hard to fault this monitor. I suppose the option for a VESA mount and ability to swivel would be an excellent addition.

The lack of a DisplayPort may also put some buyers off.

Also, I have found that very small text can be sometimes hard to re

Summary I've seen plenty of 24" monitors for much more, but when looking at the price I paid ($200 Australian dollars) it's hard to find any major faults. While I was not looking for a display for photo/video editing, the contrasts, colour and sharpness are the best I've seen in a monitor for a long time.

While I'll admit it's not professional quality, what the reviewer forgets is it's not meant to be this. A value display is just that. Also, contrary to what the reviewer said, a DVI cable IS included, as well as VGA and the OSD menu system is fine. Perhaps he was given an older revision?

I upgraded from another Dell 24" LCD I purchased a few years back and was pleasantly surprised by this.
