"Do not BUY! Big interface problem!"
Pros: Not until they have a new revision
Cons: Color Banding, Can not display 32-bit colors!
Summary: http://tinyurl.com/qubd2
This monitor has a big flaw. When dispalying color gradients you will see banding problem. It is like going back to 16-bit colors (you will notice the banding)
Editor please run a gradient test and re-evaluate. You will see a big problem on colors. And Dell does not offer a solution, we are waiting for days!

This problem with Dell and Apple monitors has been fixed by Dell with a firmware upgrade. Will also give you the option of exchanging the montitor for a new one with upgraded frimware. New monitors shipping do not have this problem.

A new version of this model has been out since July, A02, which appears to have fixed major banding issues. See the Dell Monitor forums to follow this issue. Particularly see Dell's announcement here (http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=60479).

Just got mine (REV AO2). Ran gradient tests using the DVI cord supplied; no sign of banding. No faulty pixels either.
I am using this with a Mac Mini G4. I downloaded a software update from ATI and now the monitor can be pivoted into portrait mode.
The display renders graphics & text sharply. The only adjustment I made was to lower the brightness to 38. There is not a contrast adjustment when using the DVI connection.
I like the height adjustment on the stand which also swivels smoothly.
The current price from Dell is $367, making this a great buy. -
If you actually read the forums Dell offer an exchange on the FEW faulty items (not all are affected as mine certainly isn't). If you don't want the exchange you can download a firmware update to fix it.
At least Dell offer a solution. I don't see many other manufacturers responding to customer complaints like this.
This comment was uncalled for and this person is unjustified in their use of the rating system. -
I just purchased this monitor, and other than some refresh slowness (it's 16ms), I have had no trouble with "banding" using DVI at maximum refresh and color depth. Perhaps you should all go and check your PC's. Something's like, uh, not right with 'em. . .

I just got it yesterday. I want to use it as an external monitor for my X41 tablet pc. At the first look, honestly this screen is really impressive such as its size, brightness, features. So far I don't have any problem with color banding because I have not tried it with DVI cable. Therefore, I think it doesn't bother me at all. For me, this monitor worthes my money. I bought it on Ebay and I paid $381 including an Ebay coupon. It is really a good deal.

Thanks for the heads up on this monitor. I thought about buying it but the monitor on my Dell laptop had this exact same blocky, banding problem until I replaced it with a different model. In the default screen resolution I'm sure this monitor looks great but you are probably experiencing this problem in some of the other resolutions like I did. I have seen this exact same problem on another Dell flat panel as well. Buyer beware.

why is it everytime someone finds one tiny flaw in any product, they rate it a 1? don't any of you read the rating guidelines? For example, a rating of 1 means: 1.0 to 1.9 (Abysmal):
A product in this range should never have been produced. This product has no redeeming qualities and worse, may actually harm you or your productivity.
Your complaints hardly warrant a 1. Maybe a 7, but not a 1. Read the standards before giving unjustified ratings.
