• "Get over the banding fiasco--this is a great monitor!"

Pros: Great design, color, contrast, price.

    Cons: Banding fiasco :)

Summary: After researching monitors for the better part of a month, I ended up going with the Dell 2007WFP. In terms of price, quality, warranty, etc, it was by far the best deal. I actually purchased two which sit on my desk and provide a wonderful panaromic view. I would give it a 10 if it wasn't for the aggravation of...

The Banding Problem. It's definitely there when you're hooked up in DVI, although it's something you have to look for, not necessarily a glaring problem under most circumstances. Hooked up in VGA (which I am) it goes away completely. I knew about this issue when I bought the monitors hoping they would ship me "fixed" models but knowing I could replace them if they didn't. Unfortunately, they sent me "banding" versions and I am in the process of having them replaced. Luckily, I get to keep the current ones until the replacements arrive, and in VGA mode, I am perfectly content. I am a little ticked off at Dell for shipping older models knowing that the vast majority of consumers won't notice the difference.

Overall, I would highly recommend this monitor in spite of the "issue". If you get a model A00 (check the serial on the back) go straight to the Dell forum and request a replacement from ChrisM the moderator. Aside from this minor pain in the butt, you're getting a top notch product.

    Updated
Got two replacement monitors today (rev A02) and there is no banding in DVI mode. Color and contrast are still excellent, no dead pixels and it took less than a week for Dell to send the replacements. So after the dust has settled, I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending these monitors.

yea, i just ordered the monitor because many people found the fixed firmware versions to be adequate and the price is great.

i think you have the best review about this monitor on cnet. clear and concise with real info. people should be reading this instead of checking all those neg reviews on cnet with no good info except a lot of paranoia.
