The Bottom Line HP's L1702 is priced to bring 17 inches of LCD to the masses, but its image quality won't satisfy demanding users. In the L1706, HP offers an affordable flat panel with satisfactory image quality, but the display lacks any extra adjustability and inputs. The L1706 will serve office workers well, but other more-adjustable and better-performing monitors are available in the same price range. The VGA-only HP L1906 is as functionally simple as LCDs get these days, and while there's nothing wrong with simplicity, other 19-inch LCDs, such as the Westinghouse LCM-19v5, have more features and cost less. The Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 looks great, performs well, and hits the right price point.
