"Wonderful Monitor. Terrible software"
4.5 starson by jerrywhPros: Build quality and picture quality are second to none
Cons: Only one. The useless "My Display" software
Summary: I bought my W2207 having come across it in a big computer store, and having been struck by how much better the display looked than the others in a long line of monitors, including the Samsung BW226 that I had gone there to buy. Its build quality is better than the Samsung too, but it is the picture quality that really counts, and I have not seen better. So far, so good. I've had it a month and it is brilliant.
The HP "My Display" software is another matter. I could not seem to get it to work properly. Contrast simply could not be adjusted. HP eventually said, "Oh, the software must be corrupted. They had me uninstal it and gave me a link to download and instal an updated version. Guess what? Now, not only can contrast not be adjusted using "My Display" but it cannot be by the menu buttons at the bottom of the screen either! The menu buttons no longer work, if My Display is running! So, I have uninstalled it and will never use it again. The menu buttons work just fine on their own, if a little slow & clunky. Why would a company capable of building such a fine piece of engineering, not to mention a great system of talking direct to a technician when problems occur, undermine all that with such a useless bit of software?
Please don't let this put you off buying the thing; it is absolutely first class and you will not be disappointed, I promise; but forewarned is forearmed, watch out for "My Display!"
