I finally found what I was looking for!
Pros: Perfect size. Very adjustable height and tilt. The Glossy screen provides extremely sharp pictures and super 'loud" colors.
Cons: I cant state anything bad about it....maybe the speakers??? But who buys a monitor for its speakers?
Anyway I absolutely love Samsung products. I am a huge fan to say the least. So when I saw that Samsung offered a 25.5" computer monitor PLUS the HDTV built-in tuner, I thought to myself "how could I go wrong!!!"
Well I did go wrong. That Samsung was terrible (see my review on the Samsung T260HD 25.5" monitor). I was fortunate that I got 100% of my money back because the girl at the retail store said she would overwrite the re-stocking fee of $83. Lucky me!
All in all, to make this shorter for those still reading, I ended up checking out some computer monitors at this particular retail store after returning the Samsung, and saw the HP computer monitor line. WOW. I was immediately attached. I dont do photography or art so the fact that the colors on this monitor seem a little much didnt bother me. I love the glossy screen. I love the vibrant colors. I love the size of the monitor. I love everything (so far) with this monitor that I ended up buying TWO of the w2408h monitors. Im extremely happy with it and I did purchase an extended warranty (3yrs) because you just never know.
Oh and if youre a gamer, you WILL love this monitor, especially when its set to 1080p. I have my Xbox 360 hooked up to my 2nd one because I am in the process of working on my house and dont want to have dust and junk flying all over my computer stuff. Anyway, GREAT MONITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic Picture, problems with sound...
Pros: The landscape of a 24 inch monitor, with the shiny LCD appearance make this look like a plasma screen. Unbeatable image. 4 stars for the image.
Cons: Like others, using HDMI and a soundcard-to speakers connection the sound doesn't work. Zip stars for the speakers....
What is key is that the image was so crisp that I just didn't want to take it back, but plan to have Best Buy swap it out tomorrow. If the next one fails, I think I'll just suck it up.... What happned to things just working the way they are supposed to ?

Good value / performance widescreen
Pros: Great colors, sharpness; love that it has height, swivel, tilt, and pivot (90 degrees to portrait) adjustments; good price point
Cons: No DVI input, I don't need built-in speakers

my new favorite thing
Pros: beautiful design, great picture, clear text, great color, light sensor adjusts screen
Cons: terrible speakers, HDMI input troublesome with sound
I ended up buying a Gateway FHD2400 24" to replace the HP with, it developed a stuck pixel w/in the first hour of use, and returned it to purchase the HP again because it just couldn't live up the w2408.
I think unless you really compare a product with its competition you really don't know how it stacks up. The gateway's text was very difficult to see. It had this appearance of a wet screen, where the lines get squigly and actually made my eyes sore trying to read. With the HP I feel like i'm looking at a print on paper. There is no strain at all. Especially when the light sensor adjusts the screen for me 24/7. I live in Seattle so it will be all kinds of weather all day. The HP adjusts the brightness as the weather changes. That was the deal breaker for me. The purpose of having the portrait mode is so that you can read more efficiently.
The thing that makes the w2408h different from the w2408 is that it has only HDMI and VGA input. I have a HDMI video card so I thought this would be convenient. Hooking this monitor up has completely erased any trace of my sound card that runs my surround sound from my system. After downloading drivers I still can't get my stereo out to work. I might switch to going DVI out on my video card and getting an hdmi adaptor and reinstall windows vista to get around this problem. The speakers on this monitor are definitely nothing to miss. The most annoying part of using the HDMI is every time I click something the speakers power on and make this pop/crack sound. I have to turn the volume down on the monitor to avoid hearing this sound a thousand times a day.
Not sure if I should blame HP for these annoyances. I love everything else about this monitor. If there's anything I could suggest to other buyers is to get the w2408 with DVI and VGA to avoid the problems I'm having with the sound.
