"Awesome monitor for the price." on by TheMG

Pros: -large 24" monitor, high 1920x1080 res perfect for HD video
-comes with height adjustable and tiltable stand
    -good build quality, very sturdy
    -VGA, DVI, and HDMI
    -the price!

Cons: -built in speakers don't sound good
    -power LED kind of bright

Summary: I purchased this monitor on sale for $270 CAD. For the price this is an absolutely awesome monitor, you can't really get better than that.

Unlike the more common 1200x1080 (16:10) computer monitors, this one is 1920x1080 (16:9) which makes this a great monitor if you're into HD video, whether it's editing or simply viewing Blu-Ray movies at your computer, this is perfect. I've watched many movies on this monitor and also play games and do some office work on it. So far I have no complaints, it works well for gaming too.

I have not noticed any ghosting, the response rate does seem pretty fast. Contrast seems reasonably good. Don't be fooled by the 10,000:1 spec though, that is dynamic contrast which lowers the backlight in very dark scenes, not that useful actually. The real contrast ratio for this monitor is 1000:1. Nothing exceptional, but still pretty decent.

The stand that comes with this monitor is also great. It allows you to adjust the height, pan the monitor from side to side, tilt it up and down, as well as turn the monitor vertical!

I'm also impressed by the fact that they included an HDMI port on the monitor. This is perfect if you have a game console such as XBox360 or PS3 and you want to hook it up to your monitor. Heck, even an HD receiver with HDMI connection would work.

Colorwise, I don't have much to compare to other than my older Samsung 913T, but the colors do seem better. The backlight is a purer white and very bright, making the monitor easier to see in bright conditions.

The only two not-so-good things about this monitor are first of all the power button. For some reason, LG thought it would be a good idea to light it up with a super bright blue LED. Kind of annoying while watching movies in pitch darkness. Nothing that a small piece of black electrical tape can't fix.

The only other issue is that the built-in speakers, well, they sound plain terrible. I wasn't planning to use them anyways but just thought I'd give them a try. They don't go very loud at all, and sound extremely tinny. So if you're buying this monitor and planning to use the built-in speakers: don't.

Overall this monitor is an excellent purchase. Offers very good picture quality. I would recommend it to anyone who is seeking a large 1080p monitor at a good price. You just can't go wrong with it.
