"A fantastic, sleek display with a few minor annoyances,.." on by scorehound

Pros: Amazing color and contrast, beautiful and bright, ability to edit RGB values for color calibration, ability to adjust gamma settings, glossy black chassis looks professional and cool, price.

Cons: Vista drivers make Windows Photo Gallery become tinted (do not install driver until Samsung updates it), awkward monitor buttons (bottom of chassis), lack of height adjustment,

Summary: NOTE FOR VISTA USERS: The monitor software and calibration settings work just fine without the monitor drivers. I uninstalled my monitor drivers and my display is spectacular.

If you can ignore the minor annoyances and focus on the positives, this monitor will blow you away. The 22" screen is fantastic for most applications and the 2ms response time and 3000:1 contrast ratio is great for gamers and photographers/graphic editors. I love the bright display, deep, rich colors and the sleekness of the design. The glossy black looks professional and matches my computer case perfectly.

In conclusion, it can be very difficult to choose a monitor these days, with all the brands and types out there. I chose the Samsung Syncmaster 2232GW. And I do not regret that decision. I love it, and I think you will too.

    "keep looking" on by zorst

Pros: monitor was pretty good at first but the picture burned out then broke.

Cons: Company is so confused, they offered me a refund for 299 then said they would only give me 269 then 299 then 269 again it has been about 5 months still no refund hours of phone calls and emails too many to count.

Summary: Have you seen the new LG screens?

"Great for home entertainment" on by stevent1992

Pros: Great finish and unique design, sharp and rich display, rich colours. Wide screen, perfect for home entertainment.

Cons: No HDMI, a bit expensive, has some weird line effect and is a bit tricky to configure settings. A bit too much brightness/contrast and hurts the eyes.

Summary: I bought this monitor with a new PC, there were other ones available but none compared to the beauty, elegance and image quality that this one offered for the price of a 22'' widescreen in the store. I am reasonably happy with this monitor, despite the fact that it does not offer HDMI, and I intend to view movies on it!

I have an issue with these weird lines that run across the screen, while its only slight and not too noticeable, it's annoying nevertheless and I don't know what is causing it, though my first thought was interference? I don't know.

Overall, I think people will be quite happy with what this monitor has, the image quality is excellent, the colours are rich and finish makes you almost appreciate your display surprisingly. Great monitor, I'm happy with it.

"Absolutely perfect monitor for gaming and movie watching" on by Catamount1412

Pros: Rich and vibrant color, good brightness and sharp looks

Cons: The shiny black frame can be a bit of a fingerprint magnet, and it lacks HDMI input

Summary: All in all, this monitor does what I want it to. It delivers great images and doesn't break the bank. Besides the usual benefits of a 22in widescreen LCD, this monitor excels in a few areas. First, it's very bright. In fact I had to tone the brightness down considerably because desert and tropical locations in Age of Conan were absolutely blinding at times. The monitor also does well on giving deep blacks, beating out most similar monitors I see by far. The glossy screen really helps bring out vibrant colors and the Magicolor setting which can be quickly turned on and off allows for even more vibrant color. The downside to the Magicolor setting is that you really lose color accuracy and the ability to distinguish between subtly different levels of black and white. It also makes the monitor far too bright for general usage such as reading text on web pages. That said, it's great to have on while watching movies and playing games. Response time is great, just like the response time on any modern monitor. Ghosting is pretty much a thing of the past with LCDs these days. The monitor lacks HDMI, which really should be present, but I find it a small flaw given that the machine is just connected to my PC anyways.
Aside from functionality, I find that this monitor looks very nice. It's black, shiny and has a stylish shape that all combine to really improve the aesthetics of my computer area versus my old monitor. Usually this isn't something I care about since I'm more concerned with function, but I must say this screen really goes above and beyond for looks.
This monitor is by no means perfect for everyone. The glossy screen can produce bad glaring in rare lighting circumstances. It's a problem that I think is often overstated given that many laptops have glossy screens these days (for whatever reason) and people never complain about them despite traveling all over to different places with very diverse lighting situations. It's also not what you should be looking at if you have use for HDMI input (obviously) and I would echo the words of the editor that the Dell 2208WFP is probably for you if that's the case. I personally preferred this over the Dell monitor just for the fact that you can run over to your local retailer and buy it rather than having to order it by mail.

"I gave a wide screen LCD a try." on by computer tyro

Pros: I am pleased with the bright display.

Cons: Will the screen be easily damaged on my desk?

Summary: As I was having problems with my Vista equipped HP m9040n computer,a computer repair guy suggested a newer monitor(as my CRT monitor is about 10 years old) might help.
Although a new monitor didn't solve my sleep mode problems this monitor has a very nice display. It's easier for me to read.As a casual user I find it an improvement.
But another important characteristic for me is how long a product will last. But so far so good.
