5 stars  | on by P4man

Pros

Awesome smooth & EVEN Picture Quality, Low weight, Huge screen, Low price!

Cons

Gloss Black bezel shows fingerprints

I own a Dell 2405FPW which has the Best LCD Picture quality I have ever seen even better than it's predecessor the 2407WFP. I bought 4 of these Samsung 245BW because I wanted at least one with no dead pixels to work in dual mode with my 2405FPW, but ... Read full review

I own a Dell 2405FPW which has the Best LCD Picture quality I have ever seen even better than it's predecessor the 2407WFP. I bought 4 of these Samsung 245BW because I wanted at least one with no dead pixels to work in dual mode with my 2405FPW, but guess what? Not one of them had a single dead pixel!!

The picture quality is nearly exactly the same as my beautiful Dell 2405FPW LCD, which makes sense because the Dell 2405FPW does have a Samsung Panel. Well after spending a few hours adjusting settings with both 245BW & 2405FPW side by side, I decided to run 2 of these 245BW dual instead & finally sell my beautiful Dell 2405FPW. I really don't need or want all that additional bull 2405FPW offers (i.e. memory card readers, picture in picture etc. BLAH!!! Who cares? (Although USB ports were nice on 2405FPW, USB hubs are so cheap these days (practically free) having a built in USB hub is not a priority for me. Picture Quality is what really counts.

245BW are Beautiful no frills 24" WUXGA Monitors at a great low price with quality where it counts.(Only paid $479 free shipping at Dell) Plus I got $14.37 cash rebate each too!

Highly Recommended. Black is DEEP BLACK White is bright white.

Like the 2405FPW, these are WAY TOO BRIGHT out of the box, you will need to spend at least a few hrs adjusting color, brightness, gamaa etc.

You will not be disappointed. Buy it!

Another thing, they only weigh 18.7lbs! Almost a full 4lbs lighter than my 2405FPW at 22.7lbs!

Dell 2405fpw is the best LCD I have ever sampled, so considering I am actually going to replace it now with 2 of these, that should tell you something about these. Their picture quality is identical.

"Great monitor"

4.5 stars  | on by furball0124

Pros

Great brightness; colour adjustment options including useful pre-sets; good longevity (so far!); good tilt and swivel

Cons

A bit bulky - quite deep, large base, minimum height is still quite tall (barely fits under the shelf on my desk hutch; bottom of monitor is about an inch higher than my other monitor)

Summary

Overall, very impressed with this monitor. I've had it for about three years now, of steady use (for a while, using it up to 15 hours/day). Good for gaming or watching videos.

"Great monitor died an early death IMHO"

4 stars  | on by tim_john77

Pros

Crisp accurate colors. Easy to read text. Really, once I set it up initially I never made any changes for 3.5 years.

Cons

Ran(notice the past-tense?) a little warm. The stand would give out the odd "creak" like an old house settling. The On/Off button was a hit and miss. I often thought I had felt it click and therefore should be off. But it was still on.

Summary

To elaborate on why I'm speaking in the past tense. It's not because I sold it, it's because it died after 3.5 years of average to high usage(on 12-16 hours per day) That's approximately 15,000 hours of use. I think it's rated ... Read full review

To elaborate on why I'm speaking in the past tense. It's not because I sold it, it's because it died after 3.5 years of average to high usage(on 12-16 hours per day) That's approximately 15,000 hours of use. I think it's rated in the 40,000 -50,000 hour range, I can't recall at this moment. Certainly mine should still be running.
I suspect, after lots reading and you-tubing these last few days, that it might be a few cheapo capacitors on the power circuit board inside the monitor. I'm trying to work up the nerve to attempt to take off the bezel with a plastic putty knife and hope I can get at the board inside to see if I indeed have some bulging and/or leaky capacitors inside and if so I should be able to replace them for pennies and have my baby up and running again. One serious caveat - I have never soldered anything in my life..hmmm. Perhaps I will let my electronics-wiz brother do the replacing of caps if necessary.

That aside, while it was running I was very pleased with the performance of the Sync Master 245BW.
