"The Best One I Had"on by prsans
Summary I had this monitor for 7 years and yesterday it just stopped working :( but i am grateful for all those years :D
Pros Top notch build quality
Cons Basic swivel/tilt base
Summary My 740N is 2 years old and it hasn't let me down. I see newer, bigger displays and I don't feel the urge to upgrade. I've played games at the highest settings, watched hi def videos and movies on it, and I've yet to see the limits of what it can do.
My gripe is the basic function base. I have an older Samsung lcd at work, but it has a full function base (height, rotation) aside from the basic tilt and swivel. The bundled software includes the rotation function, but no hardware to make use of it.
An easy 10 had it been bundled with a full function base.
Pros Amazing specs, great picture.
Cons no DVI connection.
Summary Whenever I'm looking for a new monitor, I immediately go Samsung because i have always been satisfied with their products. Sure you can get many other 17" LCD monitors for much less (and even this model is considered cheap) but the warranties are questionable, not to mention the specifications are terrible.
The picture on this thing is absolutely great, at an amazing price, it's impossible not to get it if you're in the market for a 17" spend the extra couple bucks and get this over a generic brand. It's got a great 600:1 contrast ratio, 8ms grey-to-grey response time and a standard 1280x1024 native resolution. The auto-tune button is fantastic as well.
The only sore spot on this monitor is that it has no DVI connection, only VGA. not that it matters much given the specs on the monitor i have no problems getting it anyway.
"Bravo, Samsung!"on by TJRatfink
Pros response time, contrast ratio, picture, 3 year warranty
Cons haven't found any
Summary What a great picture! I lusted after the Sony SDMHS75/P but couldn't find one for the "right" price. No matter-this gem has the same specs and was a much better deal, price-wise. And no dead pixels either! Buy one and never look back!
