"Quality Issues"
Pros: Great Picture, Good Contrast, Neat Look, Viewing Angles
Cons: Screen too heavy for stand, Plastic surround creaks
Summary: I?ll be honest and say I bought this monitor for its looks and excellent reviews. I have owned it for 6 months and my overall opinion is mixed. The picture quality is very good although the lighter colors seem a little muted. Deep blacks and blue?s are impressive and the screens non-glossy coating is great for stopping annoying reflections. I haven?t spotted any backlighting inconsistencies or bleeding. Text is reasonably sharp although the monitor is nowhere near as good as my ancient IBM LCD for displaying anything other than its native resolution. Viewing angles are great and even watching DVD?s is bearable considering this is not the monitors primary objective My major gripe though is with the stand. I needed to raise the height last week for the first time and within 2 seconds it had sunk back to its original height. I have tried several times since with the same problem. It seems the stand is not capable of supporting the screens weight. As this is one of the monitors supposedly ?superior? traits I am extremely disappointed. I spoke to Samsung who informed me that it is not a manufacturing default and even though the monitor is under warranty they are unable to help!! Anyhow, I will not harp on as I am still pursuing the matter and the screen does have some very good points. Bear this in mind when you fall for the attractive slim looks and if possible have a fiddle height adjustment at a local electrical store before committing to buy.
