"Better Choices out there" on by avonsurfer

    Pros: Samsung makes durable products.

Cons: In my opinion the LG's performance, quality, and features outweigh the Samsung.

Summary: Seems to be a bit biast for Samsung in both this article and the LG article. I like both companies, but I'm going to lean towards LG on this one. I have always used Samsung monitors with out any problems, I actually like them very much. However after purchasing the LG Flatron M237WD today I would 100% consider buying it as I have done over a month of research to just decide between Samsung and LG for my TV/Computer monitor combo. Some of the things mentioned in this article are just not true about the LG, I've been watching Cable with an HDMI cable all night with this and honestly it is comparative to my father's Samsung LED. Bottom line, both monitors are great and I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with either, but the LG has impressed me so much as a first time LG buyer that I may not go back to Samsung after purchasing at least 4 of their products in the last 4 years. Once again I'm not saying Samsung in bad, I just think LG offers better features and the quality and performace compared to Samsung is in my opinion the same if not better.

"A great HDTV option at a great price." on by shabulia

    Pros: Very crisp picture.
    High performance in playing games.
Multiple ports allow for a number of connection options.

Cons: Even though there are a lot of port options, there is only one selection of each.

Summary: As smaller HDTVs go you could do a lot worse than the Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD. It is an LCD screen that goes up to 1080p, the colors are nice and crisp, it performs extremely well when playing games on your PS3 or Xbox 360, the black levels are deep, and the TV itself is quite versitle. It has a good weight and the asthetics exude quality in the manufacturing. A really nice feature is the energy saving options for those looking to save on their monthly electricity bills. Everything you need in an HDTV is right here.

As far as value is concerned, it's a steal at around a $300 price point. Some places, like Costco, may even offer a further discount which makes this an even better buy. For the money it's an excellent value, especially for someone looking to get into HD gaming.

The TVs lack of a pivot isn't too much of a concern as the TVs stand is well suited for easy movement. Other TVs out there might be lighter or thinner but are likely to cost about $200 more and will only offer comparable performance. While it's true that the SyncMaster P2370HD doesn't offer the bright blue glow in the TV stand, this is not a big deal because such a thing might become a distraction especially when watching a scary movie or playing a game in the dark. While such a feature is offered on some other Samsung models it's not present here and it really isn't something to miss.

The only drawback for this model TV would be the lack of multipe ports. While it includes every port imaginable (HDMI, Component, RCA AV, DVI-D, PC, Coax Ant), it doesn't offer multiples of any. This problem can be solved with the addition of a multi-port switch box but it still would have been nice to have at least a second HDMI and Component port.

Still, it's hard to complain about such a fantastic TV that is offered at such a fair price. While the TV only offers a 60Mhz refresh rate, it's not something likely to be noticed due to the TVs more compact size. Such a thing only becomes noticeable with larger TVs.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD is an excellent deal and is a great option for gaming and watching DVDs or BluRays in a dorm room or bedroom. It also doubles as an excellent PC monitor. For the money, it's hard to go wrong with such a buy. This one is highly recommended.

"Best Monitor I've Ever Owned. Samsung P2370HD" on by bigjohnsta

Pros: Appearance, Features, Customizable Options, Color, Quality Resolution, Blu-Ray 1080p Movies look great!

Cons: Touch screen menu doesn't recognize every time. Could also use another HDMI port, but since I have it hooked to my PC through DVI, the HDMI port is free for HDTV I have setup. Also not that big of a pain to detatch to hook up a Blu-Ray player to.

Summary: I love this product. Great quality HDTV/Monitor. I have this setup to my PC with a Monster DVI + HDMI cord to my XFX NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 (HDMI Port) and it looks stunning. The Blu-Ray movies I watch (via .mkv files which i've downloaded) looks amazing. There is minor tiling however, but I believe this is due to my Graphics Card.

It came with a basic HDMI cable in the box which I also hooked up to my PC and it looked like garbage. Upgrade to a Monster Cable and see the difference! It really does make a difference!

"Brightest Sharpest Picture! Generous Loud Audio!" on by metalmorphasis

Pros: This set has the sharpest, brightest, boldest color around!
The picture almost jumps off the screen! I even could turn down the energy saving and brightness settings to low and still a great picture! And the sound is just as generous, loud and clear!

    Cons: None, Its a Samsung!

Summary: There is no doubt that Samsung is top notch and beats them all!

"excellent image & usability, would like more ports" on by wfairley

Pros: picture quality is excellent, as I expected from Samsung - full LED goodness with no dead pixels, brightness to spare, no bleed in any corners - image quality rocks! The mount was standard VESA mount, so no proprietary brackets required. Hi-quality.

Cons: The standard VESA bracket deflects the DVI cable, but it works. I need more training to effectively use the front panel power switch. A bit on the high side of comparable monitors/TV's price-wise. Styrofoam packaging = not green.

Summary: The image quality is excellent - a bit bright right out of the box, but fully adjustable for any viewing environment. NO DEAD PIXELS! One of my concerns with every LCD purchase is the appearance (either immediately or over time) of dead pixels, and I've had some "stuck" or "dead" pixels that really degrade my satisfaction with a monitor purchase. Not so with this monitor, the image is flawless, and has remained flawless since turning it on over a month ago. I have a monitor arm on my computer desk, and it has a VESA adapter plate drilled for 75 and 100 VESA sizes. Because it is over sized to accommodate various monitors, the bracket overhangs the "connector zone" on the back of the monitor, which interferes with the DVI connector: it connects, but it is slanted and presses against the bracket in a way that makes securing the retainer screws difficult. Speaking of connectors, I am disappointed it only has one HDMI connector, but since it is small and I am using it with my computer, it is adequate - my computer is on the DVI port and the blu-ray player is on the HDMI port. let's face it, this thing is never going to be my entertainment center display, so I don't need any more ports right now. Crazy as it sounds, it's big enough on it's own, but I am still considering multiple monitors, and if I get one or two more monitors they will be the same size (image a flight simulator: single center screen for the front view, with screens for left and right views). For the over-air tuner: I pick up 22 stations in my area with a powered antenna, which is great considering I only watch public television once a month or less, and the image quality is great. The remote control is nothing special but it's nice to have one for the computer monitor. The fit and finish of this monitor is what I expect for the price - very high quality. It came packaged in a big Styrofoam slab in a cardboard box. Overall this is a great monitor and I would highly recommend it, although I don't have experience with the LG products yet.
