"Great 120Hz monitor, OK 3D monitor"4.0 starson by Mergatroid Mania
Pros: The 120Hz makes games a little smoother and a little more responsive. Even if your video card can't push 120fps, you will still benefit from having faster refreshes available for what frames it can push.
Sweet and stylish.
Cons: Can't wall mount it. No height adjustment. Power brick. Cross-talk in 3D. Reflections from glossy panel.
Summary: For gaming, this is a great 120Hz monitor. It performs really well and you can get the full benefit of the true 120Hz refresh rate. It has sensors to let it know the ambient light, and even if there is a person close enough to the monitor to power it up automatically. It has DP. HDMI and Dual Link DVI D.
The 3D is OK, but the glasses are pretty cheap and don't go completely black on the dark part of their cycle, and so you still see a little of the picture meant for the other eye. This causes "crosstalk" and makes slight outlines of everything (a different type of ghosting) but only in 3D mode. It's not too bad and games are still fun in 3D. The 2D to 2D feature for movies isn't bad. It's not "in your face" 3D but does add depth, which looks fairly cool. Personally, I don't use it for watching movies, but if I had to I would be happy with it. The colours are vibrant and it looks slightly nicer than the 27" ASUS monitor I have sitting right beside it.
Reflection alert. I don't understand why companies (some of them anyway) seem to think glossy surfaces on LCD monitors is a good thing. Be ready for the reflections in the panel.
