"Better than expected"
5.0 starson by phfttttPros: Great monitor, great HDTV. I use it for both
Cons: Speakers are not the best but I hooked up some good 2.1 speakers with woofer and the sound is great.
Summary: I needed a larger monitor due to my eyesight. I looked at many PC monitors and was going to buy the HP 27 inch at $329. I found this at Office Depot for $299 and liked the idea of an HDTV with internal tuner.
Easy to hook/setup right out of the box. I split my cable internet input between my cable modem and the monitor. I set the TV up to scan cable. It found approximately 75 channels of both digital and HD TV. The digital channels are good to very good but the HD channels are fantastic, just as good as my 50" Panny plasma. I've starting watching HDTV more on this monitor than my big screen simply because I'm on the net a lot. Very easy to switch between the two and is almost instantaneous.
As a monitor I'm using the VGA cable since my laptop doesn't have a DVI connection and the picture is excellent. YouTube comes across clear and crisp as do other videos. With the magnifier on Windows 7 I can get a very good range of picture size. Easy to read fine print and small details. Pictures look sharp and detailed.
I would easily recommend this monitor/HDTV for both viewings.
