"You get what you pay for"
Pros: High contrast, astoundingly deep colour, and a great response time
Cons: Big price tag, an unimpressive vertical viewing angle
Summary: While a lot would shy away from a heavy price tag, there is a lot more to the HS75P than its silver "SONY" logo.
The first thing everyone notices is its glossy screen, which has CNET misunderstood as a risk for potential glare. Rather than diffusing light directed towards the screen throughout its surface as almost all other monitors do, the light is reflected at mirror-sharp definition. While something as bright as a lightbulb would definitely overcast the image when in close proximity, a generally well-lit room would not provide for any noticeable reflection.
Since ambient light is reflected and not diffused, there is absolutely no glare, even with sunlight. I tested this with a 13W hallogen lamp directed towards the screen from 30cm away. While the lamp did indeed produce a bright reflection, the image overall didn't lose any visibility whatsoever.
The HS75P is a beautiful screen. The colour depth is beyond a doubt exceptional, and the sharpness leaves nothing to be desired. I've noticed details with the screen in images I couldn't before with other screens, even the LG Flatron 995FT, what I would call the top-notch CRT screen in its own rite.
Overall, a smaller price tag would have been appreciated, as would have better visibility from greater vertical angles, the HS75P has left me one awe-stricken, satisfied customer
