"Excellent LCD Excellent Price"
Pros: Just about everything
Cons: DVI connection overrides some menu adjustments (No Biggy)
Summary: I bought the 1905FP based on all the positive reviews here. I'm glad that I ignored some of the negative reviews. To begin with it took Dell only 2 days to ship this beauty. When I opened the box the first thing I got to handle was the HEAVY and STURDY base of the monitor. I already knew that I was in for a treat. The actual screen snapped onto the base without a hitch.
I had one minor glitch during setup. When I hooked her up and booted up my PC the monitor couldn't read the DVI signal. I hooked up my old monitor and adjusted the resolution to the 1905FPs Native Resolution.
Plugged the 1905FP back in and was off to the races.
A lot of the negative reviews were based on
a) Too much brightness
b) Lousy Colors
c) Some menu adjustments being disabled.
Initially I agreed with the negative reviews. I chose to sit back and take a deep breath before I got all flustered. I went into the Nvidia control panel and was able to adjust everythng without having to utilize the on screen menu. In fact I believe that I had more flexibility by utilizing my Video Card software rather than attempting to adjust the monitor by having to hook up the analog cable.
The price was $527 Cdn including taxes.
I must stress that I'm not a gamer. I use my PC mainly for Office 2003, Surfing, and Corel Draw. For those gamers that are disappointed with this monitor one only has to look at the specs and check out the response rate before making a purchase.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this unit for Internet and Graphics use. Just take the time to utilize your video card software and you'll be a happy camperUpdated
Granted Dells Installation CD sucks. I have 3 recommendations to deal with both the washed out colours and switching display orientation.
If you right click and explore the Dell CD you'll find a 1905FP Profile File. Right Click and install the make that your default color profile in your display settings.
I updated my Nvidia software that includes settings to switch desktop orientation.
Patience is a virtue.
