"Gamers Should Look Elsewhere"
Pros: I was looking for a good midrange LCD that I could use for games, the internet, and a little bit of drafting work, and this looked like it fit the bill. It's got VGA and DVI connectors, and a four port usb hub. It seems to have a good reputation and min
Cons: once things start moving, it falls apart pretty fast. Half Life 2 was unplayable. And I'm not just being a little picky. When I moved, the whole screen was one giant blur. At some points, the ghosts would trail by at least an inch and a half. This th

the monitor DOES ghost and DOES jitter, because it has a 20ms response time. some of the models dell have shipped have a lower screen quality but an 8 ms response time, which is good for gaming. Unfortunantely it's very difficult to find out which one you're buying until you have it. DON'T RISK IT, BAD BUY, PEOPLE PEOPLE YELLING "VIDEO CARD" ARE WRONG!!!

I got bad news for you.
It is definetly not the monitor. I have this monitor and it has played Doom3,Farcry,HL2, and BF2 all at very high rez and all the settings way up.
So whats that tell you?
Look elsewhere for your problem it isnt the monitor -
Im pretty sure that this kinda monitor whould not slur that bad, Im thinking its ur Video Card. Whats ur card again?

I've been using one of these for FPS games (mostly DoD and CS, also HL2 when it came out) for about 15 months and have no problems with it.
It's not the best gaming LCD out there, but it's good, and the text and image quality are among the best. -
Yes, you will need a powerful DVI graphics card with this monitor. Although I have a Samsung SyncMaster 930B, I do like the dell monitors. I work with them almost every day at work and have had no problems with them. Hehe, yes I do get game time at work if you think I'm just using it for the usual boring stuff.

You should be running the monitor in it's native resolution and I would recommend using the DVI digital connection if your video card supports it. If not, get a new video card with a DVI output. I read a testing review and the analog connection seemed to have a good bit of noise associated with it. The reviewer also stressed that a quality video card is needed with this monitor. That should solve the problems you describe. Check out Tom's Hardware and Anandtech web sites for more info.

I'm seriously looking for a new TFT and Dell ( after reading loads of reviews ) seems to meet my requirements. I am concerned though regarding your comments. I'd be interested in which graphics card you are using and wonder whether this could be anything to do with your blurring characters?
