"Excellent picture quality, but overall build is just OK"
Pros: Picture quality, brightness, excellent viewing angles
Cons: Cheap price comes at the sacrifice of extras and design
Summary: I bought this monitor at BestBuy.ca for $400CDN after seeing the demo unit and just received my unit today.
The picture quality is comparable to a more expensive ($600CDN on sale) DELL UltraSharp 2405 which I use at work all day long.
Picture remains bright and visible from almost any angle. The text is very crisp as well. These parameters were my primary concern when choosing a monitor.
So what is sacrificed at this low price? Well, number of things:
1. No DVI cable supplied, only VGA
2. No built-in USB ports or card readers
3. Cheap and wobbly stand. It is also non-adjustable by height and only allows you to tilt monitor up or down, not left or right.
4. Perhaps quality control as I have 2 dead pixels. At this size they are hardly noticable however.
Also, Power LED at the bottom is too bright, and when in stand-by mode it is also intense and blinks which is quite annoying.
If I had an extra $200, I'd go for DELL UltraSharp 2407. But it is still not a bad buy.
