"Practically Perfect !"
Pros: Widescreen, Picture Quality, DVI Connection, Affordable
Cons: No USB Ports - Speakers Not Necessary for Most
Summary: It's hard to fault this monitor. Sure it doesn?t come with USB ports and not many buying such a nice monitor would opt to use the built-in speakers.
I bought this monitor for two main reasons: 1) Reviewers and users all over gave this monitor high praise, and 2) The 20.1" widescreen format works best for me.
Buyers should be aware of a couple things before buying:
1) Check to see if your video card can handle the required 1680x1050 screen resolution. LCD's are not the same as CRT's when it comes to resolution. LCD's work BEST at the manufactures recommended resolution, and my not work at all at other settings, or if it will, the text and picture quality will suffer greatly.
2) This monitor needs color/brightness/contrast adjustments during setup to optimize (correct) the picture quality. Most buyers will find that the brightness and contrast settings on the monitor itself will need to be lowered substantially. My brightness is set at 39% (came set at 100%) and my contrast is set at 50%. Next the gamma setting will need to be adjusted. This must be done through the video card settings offered when right-clicking one's desktop then, selecting PROPERTIES then, SETTINGS tab, then the ADVANCED button at the bottom right in SETTINGS. Clicking ADVANCED should show more tabs, one of which should represent your video card. Usually clicking your video card tab will allow a gamma setting adjustment. Some users may find a different way to get to this feature but it is important to adjust the gamma to eliminate the washed out look of the monitor. My gamma is set at 0.75 out of a possible max setting of 6.00. The setting was originally at 1.00 when I got the monitor. I had to lower it to bring the colors up and eliminate the washed out look. My monitor?s picture quality is much, much better after these adjustments. I?ve offered my settings to simply give an idea of what might need to be done ? each person must find the setting that works best for their viewing.
After reading the above, I don?t want any potential buyer to not serious consider this monitor because some simple color adjustments must be made ? most monitor need adjustments and these are easy to make.
The ViewSonic VX2025wm is an excellent quality widescreen monitor sold at a reasonable price. Some may buy this for watching movies or playing games, but for me, it?s the fact that I can have two documents open side-by-side and work between them with ease! It?s like I had two monitors but without the hassle of getting my cursor from one to the other. This is one of the best computer related purchases I?ve made. I love this widescreen format!Updated
...that my previous monitor was a very good 17" LG L1720P Flatron LCD that my daughter gets to use to replace her 17" CRT. Also, I paid about $100 more for it 1 1/2 years ago!

Like many users of multiple monitors, I have considered switching to a single wide screen monitor to save desk space. But I am unclear how you fit two documents or, more importantly, two programs side by side without losing part of both screens. Just as puzzling is the fact that a 19" standard LCD is acually slightly bigger and slightly cheaper than a 19" wide screen LCD.
