"Excellent monitor"
Pros: Super fast - no ghosting. Nice design. Nice colors.
Cons: Not a true 4/5 ms unit. No height adjustment.
Summary: The Viewsonic VX924 is an awesome display unit.
I read a review about it in Hardwarezone.com about 6 weeks ago and patiently waited for this unit to be shipped out to resellers. I have to say that I was not disapointed with its performance. I ordered it from ZipZoomFly.com on June 6 and received it June 10. I've read in different places that it didn't come with a digital cable but mine did.
I had problems getting it to work with the digital cable because I didn't have an updated driver for my video card. I had forgotten that 2 days before, I had restored a drive image from the beginning of the year and my drivers were out of date. Viewsonic's computer support was very helpful and the wait time was about 2 minutes. The tech rep helped me make sure the digital output was working and from there he made several recommendations including that of reinstalling the newest video drivers.
After installing the newest drivers the unit worked flawlessly. The colors are rich and best of all there was absolutely no ghosting. The panel is very well designed and does not look cheap like some other units. The brightness and contrast looked perfect the way it came out of the box. For the past 8 months I've been checking the different features and screen output from all displays I found at CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City and Office Depot and this unit has the same if not the best picture from the very best they had to offer. I'm using a Viewsonic A90f CRT which I have been very happy with for the past 2 years and I've had no complaints about. The reason why I purchased this unit was for my mother who last year displayed an interest in getting one but I suggested to her to wait until the technology advanced a bit more and prices came down. I was nervous about spending this kind of money on something that might turn out to be mediocre, especially since there are decent displays that can be had for $100-150 less. My fears were relieved only after I put my hands on this unit and tested it.
I was so impressed with the VX924 that after shipping this unit to my mother I ordered one for myself. Please read the latest review at Tomshardware.com before you commit to buying one. Please be aware that the unit came with one stuck pixel in the lower left corner.
