Power Play Sports Trivia is about as no-frills as a PlayStation game can get these days.

Review:

Power Play Sports Trivia is about as no-frills as a PlayStation game can get these days. This value-priced title delivers 4,000 questions broken up into the four categories of football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. You can choose a specific sport or take on all four in two different modes. The tournament mode has a game-show-like setup, where up to four players can play simultaneously. The other mode is called last man standing, and it lets you miss up to five questions before eliminating you from the competition.

The presentation is about as flashy as a brown paper bag. Questions are presented on a static background, and every font in the game is extremely plain. The only extra is the ability to save your high scores into the game's hall of fame scoreboard. The 4,000 questions provide a decent variety, though since this is a sports trivia game, anyone not innately familiar with sports minutiae will likely be left out in the cold.

If you can't manage to keep all your card-based trivia games in one place, this digital alternative might be just what you're looking for. Otherwise, the mobility of a box of trivia cards beats huddling around the TV nine times out of 10.
