"Great lens for animal shots while hiking"

Pros

Very nice optical quality, good compromise between focal range and weight (roughly 3 pounds / 1450g).
VR works well and allows for handheld shots at 400mm with 1/60s to 1/90s.

Cons

Autofocus is slow.
