best of Unix and Windows combined into one operating system

Pros: safe, reliable, stable, great bundled software (iLife), Expose, SpotLight

Cons: finder not multi-threaded, too many "beach-balls of death"

Review: For scientific visualization and software development, OS X is is hard to beat. It's BSD Unix foundation allows easy importing of open source software. Furthermore, OS X can run native MS Office. Hence it has allowed me to replace two computers (Windows PC + Unix workstation) with one (Apple PowerBook). I often have many applications running at one, so I find Expose a real enhancement to productivity.

Safe, reliable and fun.

Pros: No viruses, extremely reliable, enjoyable to use, and a great community that will always help you.

Cons: .Mac web services are too expensive. The Finder lacks the polish and UI Apple has in the rest of the system. Mail is a little to slow.

Review: All round this operating system is quite easily the best I've used, and I've used them all. It's really easy to use. If you are a switcher and like me, you'll pick it up in no time. I could use most parts of the system in less then a week with little or no help. Every operating system has their downfalls, but aside for gaming which I don't have time for, I can't really find all that much to complain about. This is the way operating systems are meant to be, it doesn't get in the way, it just lets you get on with it.
