"This mouse won't do what you think!"
0.5 starson by rmontPros: Good size, looks nice
Cons: 1. When starting computer, BT will not automatically connect and 2. Can not program buttons
Summary: As you can read from my CONS there were 2 major difficulties I encountered with my NEW Powerbook running "Tiger" (OS 10.4.2).
1. Every time I turned off my computer and later restarted, I had to go through the "pairing" sequence again.
2. All I wanted to program was: Left button - single click; Right button - double click.
Would not do it! I emailed Kensington and they told me that their "programming package" (whose name I forget) will not run in my PowerBook and the basic Mac programming will not program this mouse.
Anyone want to buy one of these cheap?
P.S. If anyone thinks I missed something that would make this mouse work please let me know - but I did communicate several times with Kensington and they couldn't help. I'd love to be wrong.Updated
Since I wrote this review, I decided to try the mouse again and discovered that when you restart the computer and the mouse does not "hook-up", if you then click the mouse 2-3 times, it WILL start up without "re-pairing".
Interesting that no one pointed this out to me from Kensington.

I just got the mouse and was having the same problems with having it pair up. I'm running Mac OS 10.4. What I found was that if you make it a favorite (System Preferences:Bluetooth:devices-make a favorite), it stays connected much better. I just got it but so far it's working great now.

I had the same experience with repairing (also Mac OS 10.42) ... I eventually found that even one click and about 10 seconds of patience will do the trick. However though that usually does the trick I still get into situations every now and then when repairing or reconnecting just won't go and I have to fuss around with manually resetting the mouse and/or bluetooth on the Mac (haven't really figured out what the right sequence of steps is).

My Targus mini-Bluetooth mouse is the same way. When my PowerBook goes to sleep, so does the mouse. Somewhere I had read that I had to tap the buttons a couple of times, then wait a few seconds for it to wake up. It also skips unless I hold a certain way. It does have a nice solid feel to it though.

Targus AMB01US
