  • "Great wheel, but prone to malfunction."
    on by gsenerler

Pros Simple design and a really nice wheel.

Cons After 1,5 months of usage my wheel got broken, only works one way (down) now. Expected a longer life time from Logitech.

    Summary

    Updated on Dec 23, 2010

Also the extra button (which acts as the middle mouse button) is placed in an awkward position.

  • "One great, simple mouse! An awesome scroll wheel too!"
    on by the_snoman

Pros The best scroll wheel ever put on a mouse, Corded, No extra buttons, laser tracking, nice ergonomic feel, looks nice, fairly low price for all of it's benefits.

Cons Cord is a little long (6 foot). I would like to see companies producing mice with maybe an 18" cord and then include a USB extension cable for those who need to hook into the back of their computer. (I hook into the back of my keyboard)

Summary I set out to find the perfect, basic mouse and I believe I have. I did not want a mouse with a bunch of buttons and did not want a cordless mouse to have to charge or change batteries in. I've tried other people's mice before and found that I had to be careful to not press the extra buttons, some of which are on the side and I really hate that.

The number one feature of this mouse is it's scroll wheel. Click it once and it's got a gear-like feel as most do but click it again, and it scrolls freely with no gear feel at all. In fact, it coasts, so if you're viewing long documents, websites, or whatever, then just give it a flip and it keeps on scrolling until you stop it or it runs out of momentum. The only down side, and it's really nothing, is I'm used to using the scroll wheel as a button in some of my applications and this scroll wheel is not a button, however they did put a small button right behind the scroll wheel that takes it's place. This is just something you have to get used to. The scroll wheel does tilt as most do, for side-to-side scrolling, but this isn't something I use.

The mouse has a nice feel to it and it's for right or left handed people. The side grips are rubberized, not that it makes a lot of difference but it does give you a solid grip. This mouse uses a laser rather than an optical sensor for tracking and seems to work great and is fairly precise.

This mouse has met all of my expectations and for those looking for a simple, 3 button style mouse with scroll wheel, this is probably the best mouse you could chose. Price isn't bad either ($25-$35).
