"Very satisfied" on by BlackxxJapan
Pros: Great scroll wheel w/ horizontal scroll, 5 buttons, ergonomic design, fairly good range
Cons: Middle button is hard to click
Summary: Based on the reviews here, I would not buy this mouse. That's why I'm glad I didn't read them before I picked this up. I had to replace a pretty bad Logitech one, and this was on sale at Best Buy.
The only bad thing I find about it is the middle button. It's hard to click, and when browsing, using the middle click is imperative for me. Luckily, the excellent management options for the mouse allowed me to map the middle click on to the large thumb button for just Firefox and Internet Explorer!
A cool feature about this mouse is Instant View. You can click the scroll wheel and it will show you all of your windows. Like how you can see all the tabs in Internet Explorer. I had never seen this feature in XP, so I was impressed.
I think the other reviewers were biased by Micro$oft's often bad rep. Honestly, this mouse is high quality and a good one to choose. Don't rule it out.
I'll close out on the scroll wheel, because it's true there's no tactile feedback. It took awhile to get used to, but now I actually like it better. It just kind of glides, and it feels really nice. And the speed of the scroll can be adjusted per preference, just one more great feature.
I'd definitely recommend this mouse for the average to power computer user. -
"Wish I had spent more money on a better mouse" on by jim losch
Pros: Comfortable to use with programmable buttons
Cons: Frequently pauses and becomes jerky
Summary: I purchased this mouse because it had the feel I liked and was wireless AND it was on sale. I wish I had spent more for a better Logitec unit. I don't really like the smooth scroll wheel. I am used to the click feel of the Logitec. Also, it will work great for a short while then for no reason become jerky and pause for a second or 2 and the only way to get it working is to push the reset button on both mouse and transmitter. I have to do this at least twice a day. I have put 3 sets of new batteries in and it doesn't help at all. I have had to move the transmitter to within a foot of the mouse. Any farther away than that and it will stop working. I am going to purchase a Logitec as I have never had trouble in the past with those units.

"Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 FIX" on by RockTshirts
Pros: Other than the proximity to wireless router problems, I do like this mouse.
Cons: This is an ongoing problem that Microsoft has not addressed yet.
Summary: There is a problem with this Microsoft wireless device. It appears to be related with Windows 7 32 or 64 bit and your wireless router.
The Fix:
I plugged it onto a USB port on the front(farther away from my router) and it works now. You can probably move your router farther from your tower as well but, I have not tried that yet.
They really should create some kind of notification about how easy it is to avoid this annoying problem but, they have a lot of other problems to deal with.
Good luck,

"The mouse is not smooth" on by 2baddog
Pros: The contour of the mouse is pretty good. The buttons are in a ergonomic position,
Cons: Not a good mouse for manipulating photos. The UBS plug for the mouse-- if placed in the back of the computer-- is too far for the mouse to work smoothly. The mouse acts erractic and jumps from position to position on the sreen.
Summary: It's not worth fighting the jittery response from the mouse. It drives you crazy. If you can place the UBS plug next to the mouse then it works OK. But those of us that want the UBS plug on the back of the computer -- sorry -- you have to live with a jittery mouse OR buy a better one.

"Great Mouse...very functional!" on by mdahlqu
Pros: I love the size, the scroll wheel, the clicking and the total ergonomics.
Cons: requires two AA batteries...buy rechargeables!
Summary: I've had this mouse at work and home for 5+ years and have never used a better one!
