"Definitely does the job!"
Pros: Excellent sound quality. Simple to use. No batteries to worry about.
Cons: The concern that there's a better mic out there for the situation you're recording
Summary: I own two mics that I use with a mini disc recorder. I have this one, and the Sony ECM-MS907. Quite frankly, this mic performs great. I've used it for lectures, recoring music lessons, and musical performances. I've never been disappointed. When I use my other mic, which runs on a battery (with no gauge of battery life), I'm always concerned that it isn't working to its capacity. I also tend to leave the other mic on, and drain the battery. This mic doesn't have a battery, so none of those issues arrise.Updated
This mic comes with the option of plugging directly into your recorder, or using an extension cord (included). When I plug direct to the recorder, I pickup the whir of the recorder, so I always use the cord.
