"The pinnacle of MD development" on by Meryl Arbing

Pros: slim design, excellent screen, remote, fully backwards compatible

    Cons: no external battery pack

Summary: Minidisc is a system that is designed for the person who wants to make CD quality field recordings. Although it will play MP3s, that is not the main reason to get one and there are lots of options for people who just want to listen to prerecorded music.
As an affordable high quality recording system it beats all the other options.
The RH1 improves on previous MD recorders by offereing full backwards compatibility with older MD formats and allows fast uploads (USB 2.0) to your PC.
The amp has been improved over previous MD units and you still have the option of using some excellent microphones. Add optical line in and you have a powerful recording system that fits in a shirt pocket.

"had mine 1 day after the mz-r1 was dropped, got the beep out" on by DavidColler

Pros: better line out audio than my mid 90's sony md recdrs & players

Cons: dc on mic plug must build dc blocking with non pol caps when using mics that do not need fantom power

Summary: The beep on line headpgone jack can be programed out.

I am thinking of getting another and from europe several deck top sized sony units.

These can replace the cart machines in radio stations a problem is the remote on the desk tops will operate the more than 1 unit.

the rh1 has better audio than a cd
1917 2ch 1/2" wide reel to reel for thomas organ and yamaha co then to> sony mz-r1 >played usb form mz-rh1 has better audio than a cd dub which lost sort of 20% punch on the snar drum stops. And the 44k wave file sounded like the master.

Mp3 files can have weirder effects on organ tapes and keyboards.

Multi track uses for a mz-rh1 like we do with the Sony mz-r1 is to start them in different parts of the performance arias several different md recorders and use a "clap stick" after every one was starter to go to a studer 16 track then mix it, easier with the pc i bet and usbs

the new sony has GOOD audio better than the mz-r1 that I was using before the "r1's" md heaven after falling.
