Pros Interior/Exterior Appearance
Cons Only one... HEADROOM!!! There needs to be at least 1/2-1" more of headroom. I am 6'6" and what little hair I have on my head constantly grazes the roof of the vehicle. I understand that I will not fit comfortably in every car but c'mon. This is a mini
Summary We had a 2001 GMC Yukon that we loved but small things were starting to go wrong. Also the MPG was around 12 or 13. We were looking at the odyssey and the sienna. While both are very nice, we felt that the interior of the odyssey was much more comfortable and refined. We liked both exteriors. The MPG is also a little better with the Odyssey.
Pros Automatically opening/closing of doors/trunk
Drives like a car
DVD player w headsets
Refrigerated compartment (not used yet)
Cons Navigation system, navigation system, navigation system.
6 speed feels a bit jerky at times.
Summary We bought ours end of Feb 2011, and have about 3 weeks experience with the minivan. My wife was really excited about getting this for several months now, and the kids were also excited. Overall, it's a great minivan and has most luxuries that families with young children could possibly want, but there are a couple of shortfalls. When we first drove our Touring off the lot, the transmission seemed a bit jerky as you accelerate. The RPMs would go up to 2500, then drop to 2000 in a higher gear which would then rise to 2500 as you continued to accelerate, then drop to 2000 again. With each gear change, there is some jerking of the car, and it seemed to go from one gear to the next very quickly at lower speeds. We contacted the dealer, and they told us that we just weren't used to 6 speed transmission. After 3 weeks, I still notice it, but it's not as apparent.
As far as the navigation, it is very user unfriendly. We have taken it in to the dealer 3 times already to try to get it fixed, and at the end, the manager finally admitted that it is a common problem with all Touring models and that Honda is working on a software patch to fix it, but when it will be fixed is totally up in the air. So the problem with the navigation system is mainly for searching by point of interest. If you try to look up "Costco" or "Target" or some business that is national, it gives us random locations in the country, not the closest one to us. We live in Hawaii, but it gives us the Costco in Merced, CA, or in PA, even when we click to sort the results by distance. It really makes no sense. However, if we initially search by subcategory (e.g. choose "search for shopping"), then type in Costco or Target, it will give us the closest location. Weird, right? Our portable GPS works better than this built it system. So it's one extra step, but it's still annoying, especially after you just paid $2500 or so more than the EX-L w DVD RES to get this navigation system. Searching by street address works fine though.
So my suggestion to you before you drive it off the lot is to test drive the actual car you are buying and feel the transmission changes, and then if you notice anything, ask the dealer about it. Also you might want to test the navigation system by searching for the closest Target, Walmart or Costco just to make sure it works for you (and also to make sure you know how to use the thing). Since you are paying a premium for this "luxury" minivan, should it work the way you want it to?
Pros I love this car. I feel like I got all I wanted and needed in the touring and skipped the toring elite. The elite is back ordered for the large dvd screen being late being made.
Cons how to use the Auxiliary feature. Does anyone know if you can play movies from your ipod or iphone through this jack? I am about to road trip and need to play movies and have many of them in digital format and would like to play them in the car.
Summary Great car if you have to cart around lots of kids. I also like the way it drives, looks and handles. I love having all the technology at my fingertips.
Pros By the end of vid, I thought it looked like a decent vehicle to drive daily. We have an '08.
Cons In the still pics, the rear does look horrible, broken. It's really just the window shape and that door track, not the actual contour of the vehicle. But it decieves you, and ultimately looks hideous.
Summary I'd consider one if that's what she wants. But not this $44k version. Make it the $27k model for us. Nice entertainment option.
Pros High-tech wonder. A truly modern interpretation of the ubiquitous minivan.
Cons The body design will take some getting use to.
Summary From the side, it looks like the back-end of an Acura MDX was shoved behind the C pillars and nothing matched up. If this bothers you, buying a black or another dark color Odyssey should help blend this Frankenstein-esque design.
