Pros Absolutely None
Cons Everything from the product to customer service
Summary I don't even know where to begin to tell my horrifying experience with Clear customer service. I had 3 months of average signal until my device stopped connecting to the internet at all. Yet what upsets me the most is not the lack of connectivity, it is how much the company don't give a darn thing about your lack of service. To keep a long story short, everyone there from managers to customer service reps to tech support to sales, they either lie to get money from you or stall with bs answers just to get you off their back. After days of calling and trying to get help, I finally managed to cancel my service while paying penalty charges and also NOT getting a refund for the duration of time that I did not have service. Telling my full story would take up too much room here but please do not give this fraudulent company a chance just because you read one good review somewhere. Once you start to experience a problem with the service, and I guarantee you will it's just a matter of time, then you are nothing but a nuisance to them. They don't even care if you threaten to cancel the service because you will go through hell before you can even reach someone who is willing to cancel for you.
Pros Wireless. Easy Installation.
Cons Service does not work.
Summary My internet service during peak hours went from a crawl to nonexistent. The customer service told me that there is nothing I can do and that they are not planning to make any adjustments or upgrades to their system to account for the mass amounts of users.
I recently moved 1/2 mile away and am unable to pick up a Clear signal at all (even though I am still in the downtown Austin area). I called Clear and had to cancel the service and now have to pay $80 in fees for ending my contract early. I have talked with several agents about waiving the fees without any luck.
I also stopped using the Clear USB modem at my office and started using my office WiFi (Time Warner). I am clocking speeds 2X faster.
I wish it were possible to give 0 stars for nonexistent service. Please do not even consider using Clear, it is virtually worthless!
Pros I don't really think there's any I can think of...
YAY on the go internet! >_>
GREAT at leaving the customer on hold and hanging up on them after 30 minutes of being on hold.
Cons 1. HORRIBLE customer service.
2. HORRIBLE internet coverage.
Summary Well I'm still on hold at the moment with their customer service...been around 3+ hours of pure hell and bad repetitive music.
Two days ago, I placed an order to try out Clear, they promised me that my house is "FULLY covered?", "no buffering on videos" (BS) and "absolutely no lag while gaming."
I actually just received the home modem w/ wifi today, and expected it to work just like my phone does. BUT NO!! It refused to connect to the internet at all for a good 30 minutes, while I moved it around the house. So, I called customer service the first time, was on hold for about half an hour...and some guy answered the phone, and told me to move my modem around the house again. By that time I was extremely annoyed, and moved the router outside, UNDER THE PATIO in the shade and no electronics near by (they claim that it doesn't work if it's next to anything electronic). ONE BAR!! woot...
Got connected to the internet, they forced me to sign their agreement before they're willing to help me with my problem...and I did.
Then the guy told me to stay on hold for "2 minutes"because there's a problem with where I live and i said ok...I was on hold for about 10, and got disconnected.
Called them back in rage form, repeated the same thing with the next guy that answered my call..this time ~20 minutes. He said my house is at the border and that's the reason why I can't get the full 4g (what I paid for). WELL to make matters worse, he told me to move about 1 mile north of where I live to receive their full coverage. That's not what they said when I signed up with them, so I said "ok, I'd like to cancel." They said ok, we have this device that can boost up the signal by 40 times, if you would like to give that a try, but it's not guaranteed to work.
me: no thanks.
Clear: okay, well you don't owe us anything, your current balance is $0.00
me: don't I get a refund of what's left of the month? Since today's the first day I received the product.
Clear: no, we can credit you for next month so you get next month free.
me: I don't want the service anymore, why would I want another month?
Clear: sorry that's all we can do
me: okay, so you want me to pay for what I didn't use.
Clear: you can give it to someone else so you don't waste it.
over an hour later of arguing, I threatened to sue for false advertisement, unless they give me back the difference of what I actually used. AFTER ANOTHER 40 min on hold... and still resolving the problem at the moment, they said they'll refund me the amount difference but no confirmation will be given to me. SHADY!!
If you want the service for your house, don't go for Clear...as much as I dislike Time Warner, their service is significantly better (in my area that is). According to the lady that helped me out w/ Clear customer service, unlimited 4g (which is about 1.5mbps according to her) is 45$, other internet providers can provide 10-15mbps for 40$ in my experience.
I didn't get the 4g on the go usb thing, so I don't have any experience there to comment.
Pros No Pros
Cons Speed is very slow.
very bad customer support.
Summary I tried clear again after 1 year and the signal is still the same. Very low. seems like they have not improved on their towers. i called customer service, the guy was stupid. very non professional. he asked me to test the speed using some test speed site. it shows 1.6MB download and 0.07MB upload to which he said its acceptable. I told him its is not at all acceptable. I'm paying $45.00 for service with no caps on speed and i want to get the speed what I'm paying for. if they don't have this speed then they must change my plan to the lower speed. he put me on hold. came back after 10 min. i asked for supervisor and he put me on hold again. for ever.
Pros Wireless, No installation
Cons Slow speed, horrible customer service, throttling, deceptive advertising
Summary Clear advertises unlimited usage and unlimited speed... but if you use the internet ''too much'' according to THEIR standards, they kick your speeds from 4g to less than 1 mpeg. CLEAR is the worst internet provider I have ever had the chance of using. The running joke in our house is "NPG (our internet provider before we moved that we thought was bad at the time) is looking PRETTY good about now" I HATE CLEAR. Watch out for their sales lies, shoddy service and awful customer service.
