Pros It is compact.
Cons Asks me to update software every time I try to use it. Did a test from home-Sent a 12meg photo. Took 12 sec via Verizon Fios. Took 545 sec(nearly 9 minutes) via Sprint w/Sierra 598 at 3g with 5 bars of signal strength. That is 45x slower than Fios. Did thi
Pros Secure internet when doing online banking, checking emails, or exchanges any sensitive information is a plus.
Cons Signal connection is very weak. Even if I put near the window,it was still bad. Beside the $59.99 they were charging me monthly, they still charge an extra $5 because I don't foot the bill to a credit card or bank account for automatic pay. This is a damn
Summary You gotta check your usage because you might go over the 5 GB limit. I pay over $200 in extra fee the first time. You can't really get done much since the mobile broadband is too slow to download. The wifi internet at the library is way faster. After my contract is over, I'm switching to Verizon or Time Warner cable.
Pros GPS on Verizon EVDO data network!
Built in WWAN support on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Already Certified as compatible with Windows 7
Cons NOT available in Verizon stores and store personnel will deny it exists.
easiest way to find it is http://******/usb598
Summary The non-sprint-labeled Sierra Wireless USB 598 can now be used on verizon wireless network, and its the ONLY modem that provides any kind of GPS functionality on verizon mobile broadband.
For Mac users, its also the only device you can use on verizon data network that offers SMS/text messaging while using Mac OS X!
Pros I like the "idea" of a simple usb style of connection
Cons In two months, NO usage. NO instruction manual, NO installation CD and NO customer service agent that can get it to work. I have close to $400 wrapped up in this product and haven't used it yet.
Summary ZERO Connectivity. Functionality is ZERO. My experience has not been good. I am going to the Sprint store for the 7th time today. Sprint wants $200 more to cancel the worthless product! Sprint does not know why it doesn't work "Just go to a coffee shop with free wireless" was the Sprint solution! Anybody out there with any ideas?
