"Reliable and Reasonable Connection"
Pros: Solid connections, even on the fringes!
Cons: Startup is not always smooth!
Summary: The service has worked very reliably in the week that I've had this. I've used this from remote locations on the Western Slope of Colorado, the middle of Utah (places like Delta and Selina, UT), as well as Austin, NV. I didn't even expect to have reasonable coverage; but, surprise - solid reliable connectivity. When in more populated areas, the speeds are reasonable. Not quite DSL or T-1; but, better than most hotel connections!
The only negatives that I've found are:
1) Often, following a fresh boot, the card must be removed and reinserted to find the network.
2) The refresh networks (F6) key seems to do nothing other than refresh the screen. If the network doesn't show, pull the card and re-insert. Restart their little program, and it will likely work.
3) Speeds in "remote" areas are a little low on the up side. You can pull down web pages; but, sending email with attachments is pretty rough.
So, on my trip I keep the laptop running and would pick odd locations to try. I was generally impressed (and I'm not easily impressed). That said, like any cell phone, I'm sure speed, accessability and ease of connection will depend upon where you are and how many other people are using it. For people like myself, who need immeidate access to systems via VPN, this is a pretty decent way to get it. I'm keep the receipt for the 30 day return though....just in case things change!
