Summary: It's a good proposition out of the box, but its overclocking potential turns it from good to great
CNET product brief
Description: The Asus M2N-SLI is a nVidia nForce 570 SLI-based, enthusiast motherboard.Compared to other enthusiast motherboards on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $145.This motherboard supports Athlon 64 and Sempron processors that use the Socket AM2 interface.
Pros: Is built around a nVidia nForce 570 SLI-based chipset, which is considerably more robust than some similarly priced motherboards. Also, this motherboard has one IEEE 1394 (FireWire) and six Hi-Speed USB optional connections, which is somewhat more favorable than some similarly priced motherboards.By way of comparison, the average cost of a product with a comparable set of additional optional connections is $290.This board can be expanded to 8GB of RAM.This should be enough for demanding environments from gaming to gigabyte networking. In addition you can take advantage of the onboard Firewire (IEEE 1394) to quickly transfer data to and from A/V devices such as MP3 players and camcorders.
Cons: None noted, given available product data.
Suitability: An enthusiast motherboard, suited for high-end performance and overclocking.
Value: Given its relatively inexpensive price, this motherboard has great features for the money.
Suggestions: (1) Be sure that you are using a Socket AM2-compatible processor with this motherboard.(2) If you want to take full advantage of the on-board SATA controller, you will want to consider a hard drive upgrade.Existing IDE hard drives will run on the ATA-133 bus.(3) For motherboard add-ons, check out the storage and components section of CNET's website.
