"No practical use" on by rdaveh

    Pros: Rechargeable

    Cons: The specs say a range of 10 - 30 feet, it's more like 10 - 30 inches

Summary: I bought this to replace a transmitter (an Audia X) that had great range, but I was tired of buying AAA's for it. I guess I'll be using my old one, this one is useless. I have to hold it right next to my car's antenna to get a signal, but seeing as my antenna is on the trunk of my car, it's not usable. Hmmm...should I tape the transmitter to the antenna and run a wire through the window and up to my front seat, or should I go back to buying AAA's? Don't buy this transmitter.

"OK but frustrating" on by daves571

Pros: Compact size, rechargeability, plug in cable, auto power on/off

Cons: Limited battery life, unit doesn't remember last frequency

Summary: Bought this for my Sony mp3 after my last transmitter (unbranded belkin - TC II style) became battered with a frayed connecting cable. As Sony continues to be more interested in ipod accessories than its own brand, the itrip and the usb socket and rechargeability seemed a good alternative. The plug in cable also avoids damage to the connecting cable where it joins the unit, which was a problem for me previously. I have never expected crystal clear sound from these devices and so the unit performs reasonably well for me.

A few gripes though, about the battery life (seems to run down after about 4 hours) and the fact that each time you turn it on you need to re-select your chosen frequency from the presets - it doesn't remain on the preset you were previously using. Incidentally, when you turn on the unit it tunes to a seemingly random frequency. It appears that this is a suitable frequency to tune your radio in to, but there is nothing in the instruction sheet to explain this which is a bit odd as other units are sold on autoscan features.

"Don't even consider-BestBuy is pushing these right noW!" on by AlexxInNY

    Pros: Nothing. Barely even works.

Cons: Doesn't do what the box says. Works only within 2' of an FM antenna, and then, it just barely works.

Summary: I just dropped $40 on a piece of junk that doesn't do anything for me!

"BEST THINGY EVAR!!!" on by Regular_Person

Pros: It cooks breakfast for me and does the laundry while I am at school! It tuned up and washed my car this weekend as well!

Cons: That more people don't own this awesome thingy... :(

Summary: Get it if you want to be or are AWESOME!
