"Excellent, highly portable speakers with great sound"
on by Riker888Pros Size
Sound quality
Battery life - 5 hours is actually very good, given the sound output and size of the device
Bluetooth handsfree support
Supports any music device with a 3.5mm jack or stereo bluetooth profileCons Music with very heavy bass sounds distorted - fixed by turning down the volume.
Microphone a bit echoey using the bluetooth handsfree.Summary This device is really amazing. It goes with me everywhere when travelling now. The sound output can easily fill a whole room - hard to believe, for such a small device. The sound quality is better than anything twice its size. The bluetooth option is convenient, but the sound quality not as good as using the lead. However, it is still more than acceptable quality.
"we don't recommend dropping the extra $50" in English means "we don't recommend spending the extra $50" which is consistent with the summary.
Expensive, but well worth the price.

The size of the FoxL is such that it can be carried in your pocket, travel bag, briefcase, luggage etc without any noticeable effort. Try carrying your "larger, better speakers" about with you everywhere.
Also, what is the problem if your mp3 player is connected to the speakers with wires ? You connect the two, and you leave it on the table as you move about the room. Wireless is a convenience, but not a necessity. Do you carry your home hi-fi with you when you move about in your house? Also, some people, like myself, hate wearing headphones/earphones for long periods of time.
The FoxL offers great quality sound, with excellent portability. It is not perfect however, and I wouldn't really call it 'audiophile', since its small size must result in some compromises. But it is certainly one of the better if not the best, solutions around.

"Best sound for the size."
on by scotto541Pros Amazing sound! I have tried 12 different portable speakers with my MP3 player. This one amazed me. No other portable speakers will sounds as good. Plenty loud enough to fill a large room with music, maybe even loud enough to host a hotel room party.
Cons High cost. Disappointing Bluetooth sound quality. Silly little felt travel pouch (a nice case would be expected at this price point).
Summary There are two ways to look at this product. First, what is the best sound quality you can get from a powered speaker this small? No other product I have tried even comes close to the audio quality of the FoxL. Second, how small (or large) would a competing product have to be to sound as good? My experience tells me that it would need to be a bit bigger than a shoebox (or the size of a small toaster oven) to be of the same sounds quality, and probably cost just as much. If you have to have a product smaller than a bread box then the FoxL is for you. It is surprisingly loud. It is much louder when plugged into the wall then on battery power or USB power. After listing to the tremendous sound quality over wires, the Bluetooth leaves something to be desired. This is my first experience with stereo Bluetooth, so maybe it always works like this... There is a drop in overall audio quality and a noticeable hiss at very low music volumes. It functions well and the handset functions (Bluetooth mic and speakers) work much better then a normal headset or Bluetooth speakerphone.
You will not be disappointed with the FoxL speakers! -
"Best tiny portable speaker in the world"
on by justmythoughtsPros Amazing size for the size.
PortabliltyCons None that I can think of
Summary I actually own the foxLmb which is identical to this model except mine has Bluetooth for music streaming (OK for non-critical listening, some static) and a built-in mic for using with my phone for hands-free and conference calling. It was worth the $50 for me to get the added feature...if you don't need them, at $199 the basic foxL is amazing. I have it 5 stars for unbelievable sound for it's size... I give my "mb" Bluetooth model 4.5 stars...same amazing sound when connected to my iPod and added Bluetooth/mic feature.

"GREAT portable (and rechargable) speaker solution"
on by storreyPros I've been waiting YEARS for a portable speaker solution that doesn't sound like cr*p and isn't solely designed for iPods. My ship came in with the foxL. I plug it into my Sirius Stiletto or my Creative Zen and get great sound.
Cons Expensive (but worth it). REALLY heavy bass (think bass-heavy rap) does get a little distorted, but for almost all music it honestly sounds as good as a regular stereo.
Summary I own the non Bluetooth system and love the fact that I can charge it with both a regular plug (faster recharge) and USB. I cannot say enough about the sound quality on this system either...I was skeptical when I ordered it. I liked it so much when I received it that I actually contacted both CNET and Sound Matters to get them to have the product reviewed. (I've never done that before)
