• "TWO HOUR BATTERY LIFE!!!"
    3.0 stars
    on by WuerschDerek

Pros: Large screen, thin, USB 2.0, Itunes Videos

Cons: TERRIBLE battery life, Small screen for Movies

Summary: Yes, the new apple ipod continues the cool reign of the iPod. However, look closer to find it isn't going to do much those who want to watch video. Notice that the estimated battery life for watching videos is UP TO 2 hours! a TWO HOUR battery life is ABISMAL at best for a PMP. Say goodbye to watching Lord of the Rings,A Beautiful mind, or Star Wars Episode 3. Even my PsP Gets more than 4 hours of battery life with movies, and thats with a user removable battery and a screen about 2 inches bigger! Nice try, but no thanks apple.

guys, i hv read a few reviews, and yes i agree it has a bad batt pack when it comes to powering the ipod to watch a movie or so, but then again, when we go to a store to pick up an ipod we buy it with the intention to listen to our music in our own player. It has jst been blessed with video which is good for showing off but personally i would not prefer to watch video on such a small screen barely enough details. I Love my ipod for having my music and playing my stuff when ever and where ever i want it and i am proud to own one

For Christmas Santa bought me a Video iPod. My only complaint with it was the 2 hour video battery life. Just recently I picked up the Battery Geek GeekPod 100 battery pack and this thing has been a lifesaver for me. As far as audio run time goes with this battery, i'm getting approximately 100+ hours of additional audio run time per charge. As far as video run time goes with it, i'm getting approximately 12 hours of additional video run time per charge. The way this external ipod battery pack works is when I plug it into my iPod it recharges my internal iPod battery while simultaniously powering my iPod the same way as if my iPod was docked. I hope this helps.

It's true-With default settings, you can only get about 2.5 hours of battery life while playing video. However, default settings leave the backlight on the whole time-A major waste of battery in well-lit areas. You can get significantly longer life by simply turning it off.

Certainly, I would enjoy a longer battery life, and when I have to replace the battery with one with greater MAh, but the battery life is fine.

WuerschDerek's opinion pretty much raps it all up in a nut shell =)

when you see 14 hours of battery life that is under certain conditions such as the back light being off, volume on low and repeating a song so if anyone actually has an ipod could they estimate for me what the real reasonable batery life is.

The only reason Apple won with iPod in the first place was they were the first and only one on the market. Now you can't even count the competion.

They will fail because there are already too many cheaper better players out there, that include streamed TV reception, portable gaming console, PDA's, etc. Even smaller! But who wants that? I already have a portable DVD Player I can use in the car and a small handheld TV not being used!

In this category, Sony already has a lock on the future with the extremely versatile PsP gaming system with more battery life, built-in Wifi and other ways of connecting to a streamed network. Plus people already installing linux, windows, etc on them.

Main selling point is for gaming, but with the addition of a mini-folding keyboard you have a revamped Sony "Clie" PDA-Plus born again. All for about the same price as a "All but in the casket" Apple iPod video.

Points:
Screen is too small, PsP has Wide Screen!
Screen probably breakable like Nano!
Battery life next to Dead!
Steve Jobs made fool decision dropping Greatest Processor maker in the world; IBM!

MacIntel is the beginning of the end for Apple!

So what if the VidPod has two hours of battery life (you don't know this yet since it isn't yet avaiable. But for the sake of your ignorance, I'll go with your claim)? Us IPODHEADS love the ipod because of its sleek and slim design. I can literally go anywhere with my IPOD in my pocket without having to feel like having a TANK in pants! PSP you say? PSP is gaming/video first then mp3. IPOD is mp3 with video. And besides, since we IPODHEADS are always on the move (walking, jogging, commuting to work, et al), we don't really intend to spend hours and hours watching video on our VidPods! If I feel like watching a movie or playing a video game, I'd sit in front of my 40 inch LCD screen and play my heads off. I could also watch a movie in a MOVIETHEATER with my date.. and keeping my hands busy, hehehe.

I guess it is safe to say that IPODHEADS have a life

Check their website. Up to 14 hours of music on one charge of battery. Up to 3 hours of slide show with music. And only 2 hours of video.

The Battery life of the new ipod 20hours 60GB, and 14hours 30GB. Video or not, the battery life is the same, and you know it.
I have no tolerance for people who give the public false information.
Please read up and know your facts: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71202/wo/8T4AGvTKBQnp2vlGOe61dXOLkzj/1.SLID?nclm=iPod&mco=CC4D3CBB

Go screw yourself WuerschDerek
