For a short time HP licensed out the 4G 20GB iPod. This particular generation has a problem of freezing up (mine started 4 months after opening out of box). I had to reset it a few times and got to the point where I got the sad iPod icon. My computer wouldn't recognize the iPod anymore to restore it. I brought it into the Apple store but the refused to help me because HP licensed it out (the got the $ for the sale) even though Apple manufactures the product. I am NOT THE ONLY ONE who had this problem with this generation; 4 of my other friends had the exact problem and random people I asked on campus.

After looking up reviews, iPods in general have a good % of working iPods but theres still some that have problems. It's a toss up.

If anything, buy it directly from the Apple store to avoid nasty customer service if you need help from them.
