"iPod Joke version 6 - Hahaha the joke is on you. Archos 604 kills this trash"

    by snorky1773 on September 13, 2006

Pros: New battery MAY actually last entire length of film - Sheep will love it

Cons: SMALL DISPLAY, I am supposed to watch movies on this??? - It still CANNOT record TV or DVDs, cannot play many files formats, where are the user functions???, not much of an upgrade

Summary: A new iPod and a new flock of sheep will jump on board to buy it - baaaaaah you are funny sheeple.

Let me break down why this product and continues to be a joke.

Minor upgrades, same price. Hey Apple, why not make a major upgrade for once. Are you telling me they cannot give a bigger screen, more file format playback, record feature, a removable battery? Why not? Because they want to sell you their movies and TV shows on iTunes. Each person that buys the device is a potential sale on their online store.

On my Archos 604 I can either download from pay services OR FOR FREE I can program it like a Tivo to record TV for me automatically OR record DVDs directly to the unit - plus I can play it back to my TV FOR FREE - DID YOU READ THAT- FOR FREE.

The Archos 604 screen 4.5 Inches (2 inches larger than the iPod) - with a longer battery life by an hour and a removable battery. So, I can watch widescreen video on a large screen for an hour of additional time than the iPod plus I can have a backup battery to extend my viewing if I so choose.

Did I mention I can record TV, DVDs, my own voice, watch a slideshow of my photos with my choice of background music? The NEW iPod now has a brighter screen - YEAH!!!!!

It is sad, people will continue to allow Apple to fleece them, then again most of you are sheep.

The Archos 604 keeps on giving and giving and giving, while the iPod and iTunes store take and take.

Want more reasons to choose an Archos 604, go to www.archos.com and read about it. I am not connected with them in anyway other than I bought and love their products.

Call me a sheep then because there isn't a product that pairs with software as seamlessly as the iPod does with iTunes. I can understand that you are clearly not intelligent enough to realize what makes this a great product so I'll let your idiocy slide. You seem to be overlooking the fact that it is simple to rip your own CDs, movies, and TV shows to the iPod without ever using the iTunes store. I have about 35Gb worth of content on my iPod so far, about 10% of that came from iTunes.

Now, the Archos 604 is an excellent product, no argument there. Unlike someone of limited intelligence, I can admit that another device has it's advantages even though I don't own one. Way to be a mindless Apple-hater.

ok here's the question, do you want to watch a movie in front of your 42inch HDTV? or your .. watever Archo

Ok, but the Archos 604 isn't even shipping yet according to their website... how is it that you have a product that isn't shipping? I agree that the stats are impressive, but I can't get one today.

Can we get user opinions and comments from people who actually own the iPod and not from the peanut gallery of Apple/iPod Haters? Cnet needs to filter the opinions & comments of people who write meaning statements about products they don't actually own.

Actually, the 604 cannot record from any source. You need to buy another product to do that: the Archos DVR Station. That'll be another hundred bucks.
With your Apple you could spend that hundred bucks on the Miglia Mini, and do exactly the same thing--record TV shows, DVD's, etc. So that's a wash. Moreover, the iPod has superior battery life, and works with iTunes, the world standard in music software.
    Joke's on you Snorky.

your point is well taken and i owned an archos for about a year, but i am willing to deal with the hassle of conversion to mpeg 4 because itunes is undisputably superior software and is very user friendly

on the Archos. But, let people decide themselves which is right for them. Dont be such a Hater!

many people love the iPod because of itunes and fads. they do not realize that itunes sucks and there are much better products like the archos 04. so all of u should get ur head out of ur a**es and look around for once
