"Simply the best" on by 6stringstrummer

Pros: aesthetically pleasing, best design of all micro-hard drive mp3 players, awesome navigation, nice battery life, perfect size, clear screen, GREAT PRICE

Cons: ear buds could be better, battery life a problem with someone that uses this a lot (and I do mean a lot)

Summary: Overall, the 1st generation Apple iPod Mini 4 GB is simply the best. Not only does it look great to the eye, it also performs like a charm. The click wheel is purely the best navigation tool out on the market. There are no hidden buttons; thus there is a very, very minimal learning curve. The anodized case that holds the mini together is very durable and very cool. With a variety of colors to choose from, from a cool gray to an outragious pink, there is a color for everyone. Lets not forget the sound. The sound quality to the Apple iPod Mini really can shine. The included ear buds, like all other included ear buds, don't sound the best or fit the best. I use Sony's MDR-G74SL which are cheap but sound great and look great. Here's the best part of the iPod Mini, YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY 250 DOLLARS FOR IT!!! Buy you Apple iPod directly from Apple itself. This way it is only $199 with free shipping and free laser engraving. Also, if you are a K-12 employee or a student of almost all colleges or universities in the entire United States, you can get your iPod Mini for only $179. Heres how you do it: when you go to www.apple.com click on the store button. When this is completed, look to the far right and you will see a title that says more stores. Click on education and from there, follow the instructions. Apple's iPod Mini hit the bullseye when it comes to immaculate MP3 players at a pretty good cost. I hope you give them a chance, because I know once you try it, you'll never want to put it down ever again!!! I hope this review is helpful.

"Meets My Needs" on by Mark32

Pros: Click wheel and sensible menus, handy belt clip, easy to update and fill with songs, very portable, two methods of connection to PC, good sound quality, solidly built and nice design.

Cons: 4 GB limit (1000 songs) is okay but a bit tight. Earbud phones aren't too impressive.

Summary: Satisfied customer (to date). Nice design, solidly built. Easy to use. Click wheel is great. iTunes (and interface between IPOD Mini and iTunes) is much better than I thought it would be -- okay for importation of MP3s but excellent for conversion of your CDs (fast and accurate with song, album and artist titles). Easy to fix tags (MP3 song names) in iTunes -- uses a 'form' type system (boxes) rather than requiring fiddling with file names/paths.

Best clip which can be used as a lanyard is also a nice feature.

Sound quality is good; earbud headphones aren't the best (flimsy, inexpensive looking - for a $200 machine - and don't fit well in your ear).

Battery life is acceptable for my needs.

"Perfect if used for its intended purpose." on by mcoppin

Pros: Size, weight, durability (LOVE THE ALUMINUM CASE)

Cons: Battery life (fixed with the new 2nd generation)

Summary: I LOVE my mini. I wanted more storage for home and long road trips so I bought a 4g 20GB and miss my mini every time I'm at the gym or doing anyting "active."
