"Smaller is not better!!! iPod Nano with bad ergonomic design." on

    Pros: Lightness, thin profile, price.

Cons: Bad ergonomic design. Can:t be handled comfortably in hand!

Summary: In a world of increasing mobility, yes, small size is a very attractive factor. When I first see the ipod nano commercial, it amazes me how Apple fitted color screen and 4GB of memory into such delicate case. I was so excited I went down to the Apple showroom and checked it out. It was marginally smaller and lighter than I imagined. Although the lightness (like a cigarette lighter) and continued clean design with color feature is a very good thing. The Apple design team failed to achieve one thing in this new ipod, which is ERGONOMICS!!! The size of the ipod nano (roughly the size of ipod shuffle, but a bit shorter, and wider) is too small to hold comfortably in hand and handle the touch wheel control. Although thinner than it ever could be, the ipod nano is not nearly as good as the ipod mini in terms of ergonomics. I wished the design team had not abandon the ipod mini design and just keep on improving it. Like, maybe a bit smaller size than the ipod mini, but with the thin profile of ipod nano, with 6-10GB of memory, and a decent color screen. That would be a ipod everyone dreams of, I think. Because of the bad ergonomics design, I have given up on the thought of purchasing this new, seemingly well designed ipod nano. If you don:t believe me, I strongly suggest you go down to the electronic shop and compare the mini with the nano while holding them in your hand. By the way, the color screen resolution is so poor, it can:t even be compared with my cell phone:s color screen resolution. If you don:t believe me, I strongly suggest you go down to the electronic shop and compare the mini with the nano while holding them in your hand.
